Türkiye Strengthens Its Position as a Global Sports Tourism Hub with Sports & Events Türkiye 2026
The operational meetings of Sports & Events Türkiye 2026, scheduled to take place between 31 May and 3 June 2026, were successfully held from 25–27 January 2026 at Nirvana Cosmopolitan Hotel, Antalya.
Organized by the Sports Tourism Association of Türkiye (STB), the meetings brought together representatives from relevant Ministries, the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), STB members, international partners, and key stakeholders from the sports and events industry.
From Spain, the Sports & Events World delegation — including Chairman of the Board and Director Jose Pepe Garcia Aguarod, Partner and Head of Operations Lynn Wong, Sales Lead Vanessa Harris, and Türkiye Business Development Manager Mireia Bernabeu — held productive meetings and site visits over two days together with TGA representatives Serhan Sarı, Sports Marketing Manager, and G. Miray Erkuş Çetin, Corporate & Cultural Events Coordinator.
During the operational meetings, Jose Pepe Garcia Aguarod and STB Secretary General Sezgin Özer also held a series of high-level meetings with key institutional stakeholders, including Yusuf Hacısüleyman, President of the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO); Kaan Kavaloğlu, President of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers & Operators Association (AKTOB); Erkan Yağcı, Chairman of the Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED); and Yavuz Gurhan, Antalya Provincial Director of Youth and Sports. The meetings focused on exchanging views on the scope, impact, and long-term vision of the Sports & Events Türkiye organization.
As a key outcome of the meetings, a five-year Sports & Events Türkiye partnership agreement was officially signed, reinforcing Türkiye’s commitment to sustainable sports tourism growth and long-term international collaboration.
With its integrated infrastructure, year-round climate advantage, and all-in-one event ecosystem, Sports & Events Türkiye 2026 is positioned to play a strategic role in strengthening Türkiye’s global visibility as a leading sports tourism destination.
