The Magic Boxers took part in many tournaments and championships plus regular boxing cards throughout Trinidad in the past couple of years. Throughout those years our Gym has been growing from strength to strength. To date the gym has a number of twenty-nine (29) registered athletes. ational Under Sixteen Championship, which was held on June 2nd 2008 at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port of Spain, Trinidad; with five (5) gold and two (2) bronze medals. Craig George also received the title "Boxer of the Tournament", and Mr. Shakirl Garcia received "Most Promising Boxer". The Magic Community Boxing Gym also took part in the Caribbean Amateur Boxing Tournament which was held at the Convention Centre in Chaguaramas, Trinidad, where a total of fifteen (15) countries participated. Trinidad and Tobago won the tournament. Two members from Magic Community Boxing Gym who represented Trinidad and Tobago won medals. Dilano Clarke won gold in the cadets' lightweight division and Mr. Craig George won silver in the cadets' featherweight division. The year 2009 also commence bearing fruits. The National Championship was held on January 16th - 18th and 24th at the Cosmic Boxing Gym in Marabella, Trinidad. The young boxers (both male and female) were very successful in the championship. The Gym won the overall championship with four (4) gold and four (4) silver medals plus "Most Outstanding Female Boxer" of the championship went to Ms. Candice Pyke. In the year 2010, the Magic Community Boxing Gym won the prestigious title of "Best Team and Overall Champion", and walked away with six (6) gold, two (2) silver and one (1) bronze medal. Ms. Candice Pyke received "Best Female Boxer" in the 48kg Division. Dilano Clarke received "Best Male Boxer" in the Lightweight category, and Coach Demetri Stroude was named "Best Coach of the Year". In 2010, Magic also took part in the Siparia Fest Tournament which was held by the Sand City Boxing Emporium. There were over five (5) gyms registered for the tournament and Magic won the "Best Boxing Champion" with six (6) boxers registered. In 2011, there was no National Championship. In 2012, the Championship was held on February 9th - 12th. The Magic Community Boxing Gym had nine (9) athletes participate in both male and female categories. Magic Community Boxing Gym captured the championship once again with four (4) gold, three (3) silver and two (2) bronze medals. Sand City Boxing Emporium held their Siparia Fest Tournament in 2012, where over five (5) registered gyms were enrolled. Magic was one of the gyms that managed to capture "Best Championship Gym" for the year 2012, with eight (8) boxers registered. In 2013, the Championship was held on January 29th - February 3rd at the Woodbrook Youth Facility, Woodbrook, Trinidad. Magic Community Boxing Gym captured the championship with fifteen (15) athletes registered. The Gym won four (4) gold, sis (6) silver and three (3) bronze medals. Also in 2013, Magic captured the Spirit of Sport Award (S.O.S.A.) for "Best Community Team", which was held at Queen's Hall on December 28th, 2013. Magic Community Boxing Gym is not only involved in boxing. We also participate in other activities such as the Anti-Bullying campaign which was initiated by the Success Laventille Secondary School. One of our young female boxers, Miss Lexine Duke took part in the campaign. Magic Gym also teaches our young athletes to be confident in whatever they choose to pursue in life and most of all, to be respectable citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Magic Gym also gives the community the opportunity to use our facilities free of charge, this in turn motivates them to live a healthy life style. The manager, along with the coach and assistant coach, acknowledge that not all persons can be boxers, but with their mentoring, guidance and teachings, they can help some along the way and make them better citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Magic Community Boxing Gym is committed to making a meaningful contribution in our community and our country. The young boxers are dedicated in their sport and are willing to make a difference within their community. They are also looking forward to the next Olympic, to be held in 2016 in Brazil.
