🎶🇹🇹 Celebrating World Steelpan Day! 🇹🇹🎶

Today, Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago celebrates one of the most treasured symbols of our culture—the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago and a sound that continues to bring people together around the world. 💙

And what better way to celebrate than with one of our very own athletes, Kellie Simmons, sharing some early Christmas cheer through the sweet sounds of pan! 🎄🥁✨

Kellie reminds us that music, like sport, has the power to inspire, connect and create moments of joy. Her passion and talent are a wonderful reflection of the creativity and ability within our Special Olympics family.

So turn up the volume, enjoy the music and join us in celebrating Kellie—and the incredible sound of our national instrument! 🇹🇹❤️

🛡️💙 Safe Sport Day 2026 💙🛡️

Today, on Safe Sport Day, Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago proudly joins the global movement led by Safe Sport International to reaffirm our commitment to creating sporting environments where every athlete feels safe, respected and empowered.

Sport should be a place where athletes can learn, compete and thrive—free from abuse, harassment, discrimination and harm. At SOTT, safeguarding our athletes is at the heart of everything we do. Together with our coaches, volunteers, families, officials and partners, we all have a role to play in ensuring that sport remains a positive and inclusive experience for everyone.

As we observe this important day, we encourage our entire community to Play Your Part and Take the Pledge to champion safe sport in Trinidad and Tobago. By working together, we can foster a culture of respect, accountability and inclusion where every athlete has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Thank you to Safe Sport International for leading this global initiative, and to the Team TTO for their continued commitment to advancing safe sport in our country.

🖤❤️💚 Honouring African Emancipation Day 💚❤️🖤

Today, Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago joins the nation in commemorating African Emancipation Day—a time to honour the strength, resilience and enduring legacy of those who fought for freedom, dignity and justice.

This day reminds us of the importance of preserving our rich cultural heritage while continuing to build a society where every individual is valued, respected and included.

The African drum has long been a powerful symbol of identity, unity and resilience. Today, we celebrate that legacy through the rhythm and spirit of one of our incredible athletes Justin Providence, whose performance reminds us that culture has the power to inspire, connect and bring communities together.
As we reflect on the sacrifices of the past, let us also reaffirm our commitment to creating a future where inclusion, equality and opportunity are realities for everyone.
Happy African Emancipation Day from the Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago family. 🖤❤️💚

💙🤝 Happy International Day of Friendship! 🤝💙

Friendship is at the heart of everything we do at Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago.
Today, we celebrate the teammates who become lifelong friends, the coaches who become mentors, the volunteers who become family, and the communities that come together to create a more inclusive world.

Through sport, our athletes build meaningful connections that go beyond the game. They learn to trust, encourage, celebrate one another's successes and stand together through every challenge. These friendships remind us that inclusion begins with acceptance and grows through kindness, respect and shared experiences.

On this International Day of Friendship, let's continue to build bridges, break down barriers and create opportunities for everyone to belong.

Here's to the friendships that inspire us, unite us and make our SOTT family stronger every day. 💙✨
