T&T's Tyla Ho-A-Shu of Northgate College established a new national Open Girls record in the 50 metres breaststroke when she placed second in her heat and 24th overall on the opening day of World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships.

Congratulations to Zahara Alexander of RWB Academy who won the 15-17 girls 1st place high point trophy at the Goodwill Swim Meet in Jamaica. Zahara was the only TTO swimmer to win an age group.

Just over one year ago, Tyla Ho-A-Shu made her first ever national team. She represented the Red, White and Black at the Pan Am Age Group Championships in June 2022. There she was a silver medalist in the 50m breast.

Six months later, Tyla achieved the qualifying time for the World Junior Swimming Championships in the 50m breaststroke. She is also the fastest ever Trinidad and Tobago female in the 50m breast owning the open National Record of 33.37 seconds.

Tyla continued training as she could throughout her academic commitments. After a disappointing CARIFTA where she was far from her best, she rebounded with resilience and recently returned home from the CCCAN Championships with silver and bronze in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

We are proud of Tyla and wish her the very best as she represents Trinidad and Tobago and RWB at the World Junior Swimming Championships in Israel. We congratulate our coaching staff and thank them for continuing to guide our athletes as they pursue excellence with RWB Academy.
