*FAHAD AND DOG CITY CLASH AT THE SAME VENUE AS NATIONAL OPEN REGIONAL FEVER CATCHES LADIES.*
The Nile Special National open championship is up and running with regional qualifiers which are the last stage of qualifying before November's Grand finale. So far, 18 men from Eastern Uganda have qualified to join the top 8 seeds. 9 of them are to join the party from 3 Regional qualifying tournaments in Kampala. Meanwhile, the Ladies' qualifiers start this Friday, with regionals and straight qualification at Star Inn- Katosi. Here is a brief on what you can expect this weekend.
*Mango Shade Bar- Busega.*
Definitely one of the toughest qualifying regional centers in the country, especially with the uncertainty of 2-time National champion Fahad Ssewankambo and Rashid "Dog City" Wagaba who is one of the hottest talents in the country today.
Fahad got himself in trouble after falling out of the top 8 seeded players where he belonged for all editions of the event since he became of age. Now he must go through the wrath of qualification and he chose the same mini Qualifying center as Wagaba, hence the same Regional center. Wagaba Rashid (Dog City) is still fresh from a breathtaking performance in which he lifted the VS tournament in Kenya, a 64-man competition of the best players from Kenya and Uganda. He has also been the best competitor against a certain Chandiga Caesar for the past year. If the 2 players are not lucky to be drawn separately, atleast one of them could be guaranteed an early exit. But the tournament will not only be about these 2. A certain Ibrahim Ssewali is in the mix too, with the ability and temperament to knock out both; especially in a race to 4. Meddie Kalanzi with crucial league experience from CKI pool club will be fancying his chances as well; just like Bob Kateregga, and Ronald Waninga. No doubt that we could witness the first major exit from the Competition.
*Casablanca - Wandegeya*
Sinkers Pool club Kingpin Innocent Tumushabe will start as a clear favorite for qualification; courtesy of his previous performance both in the National pool league and other Tournaments. But 2 of his teammates will be out to prove their worth; notably Meddie Mugisha and Player-manager Pecos Rwigyema; famous for eliminating Alfred Gumikiriza in the PAU Grand open '22. However, Innocent will face his toughest competition against Scrap buyers short gun William "Bebe" Mirembe; the most stubborn players in the country who doesn't respect anybody on the green bed. Hotpool veteran Kenneth Kakiiza will have an outside chance as well; especially if he up against any of the favorites.
*Pot It-Najjanankumbi*
Another of the hard venues to qualify from with all players having relatively good ability to compete. I however immediately recognise 18-year old Secondary school student Farouk Mutumba as the favorite for qualification. Not just for his fine league performance with Capital Night pool club, but also his recent Tournament performance in which defending champion Bwanika Mansoor fell prey in a weekly comp in which Farouk narrowly lost to Caesar 7-6. But he will not have it all his way as he faces tough competition from firstly Mahad Mivule; famous for eliminating Ndyagumanawe Amos in the 2014 edition. Veteran player Isaac "Mzee" Lwanga will be in the mix too, with vast experience which propelled him to the National team as a Lumas pool player in 2010.
*Ladies Category: STAR INN- KATOSI*
About 8 players familiar with the venue as routine trainers are expected to try and make a mark for the first time the National scene. They are likely to be surprised by the rumored registration of Julie Namuhanga and Michelle Kyomugisha at the venue. Mukono pool club's Rhoda Nakaweesa being the best player in the district should however start as favorite to qualify. More competition is expected from Serena Ogumoshabe and fast improving Natasha Ndibalekera; famous for her victory over Sandra Ampaire in the PAU Grand open; interesting if Sandra's expected registration at the venue comes through.
May the best man/woman have their day.

2 FORMER CHAMPIONS EXPECTED IN THE QUALIFIERS AS CHANDIGA AND LUKOMWA ENTER THE LINE OF FIRE The ongoing Nile Special National Open championship will have big name entries this weekend with 2 FORMER champions expected to play. 2016 Champion Sula Matovu (ranked 11th) is one of the highest profile players in the qualifiers. He was initially meant to play at Pot It- Najjanankumbi before deciding to postpone his entry; citing that he wasn't mentally prepared. His choice of venue is now settled at none other than his club venue; Upper Volta bar in Kasubi, which looks like the toughest mini Qualifying outlet to date. The event is scheduled for Friday; with expectation of one or 2 big casualties since it's a daily training spot for some reasonably decent players. Ndyagumanawe Amos Though the 2014 National Champion has kept secret of his qualifying Venue, rumor has it that he will play at his home district of Kabaale. I can confirm his venue as club Rendez Vous, and the Day is Friday Chandiga Caesar "The Scorpion

SEJJEMBA RETURNS TO HIS CROWN AS MUTESI EXTENDS HER DORMINANCE.
Ibrahim Sejjemba has been Crowned "King of the Table" right on his return to the country after winning the King of the Table championship. To do this, he defeated fellow returnee Hazali Lukomwa 8-4 in the final of the 128-man annual championship. The entertaining Final had 7 break and finish games with Ibra doing it 4 times compared to Lukomwa's 3. It is only Ibra's second major championship victory(which is surprising by given his talent); the first was the 2018 Christmas cup. Ibra's other Victims included Lawrence Senngonge, Amos Muhammed, Ian Kazibwe, Jonah Turigye, Simon Lubulwa and Habib Ssebuguzi.
Hazali Lukomwa was having a very good tournament of his own; taking down Miti, Soroti's Samson Apedo, Upper Volta's Gideon Bwanika, Wilson Joshi, Sula Matovu and Joseph Kasozi. When he met Ibra in the final, both players showed their brilliance but Ibra was simply too much to handle.
In the ladies'category, Top Seed Rasheeda Mutesi successfully defended her Queen of the Table crown after defeating Rukia Naiga 7-4 in an all-sisters Final. This became Rasheeda's 7th consecutive Major Tournament victory in a row; the he last time she lost a match being in 2018 in the National open final. She then came to win the 2018 Kampala open, 2018 Christmas cup, 2019 Kampala open, 2020 Grand open, 2021 Pool Queen, 2022 Grand open and 2022 Pool Queen. This is the most dorminant routine in the history of the Pool Association of Uganda.
The tournament was sponsored by the management of Cas Bar and Restaurant -Kansanga. The top 8 men and ladies won Cash, trophies, and medals. Alongside the ongoing National Pool league, the pool association of Uganda expects one more Singles championship before the end of the season.

*7 DAYS TO THE POOL LEAGUE*
_*Scrap Buyers Pool Club*_
_The team started out as Kisenyi Pool club, and are now the second oldest PAU club after Hotpool. From their onset, they became famous for having very passionate supporters based in Mengo-Kisenyi who always made it difficult for the Away team._
_Around 2009, they were renamed Scrap yard and maintained their identity. By 2011, some of the members of the club took it upon themselves to inject money into the team, aquiring players from other clubs who paid for a pay. The club then became competitive, winning their first trophy- the 2012 Club knockouts competition at Capital pub-Kabalagala._
_Their founding captain Wasswa Kayiiya had returned from Samona pool club to be named Captain again. In 2013, PAU banned their notorious venue in Kisenyi from hosting league matches. The club relocated to Lumas-Old Kampala under a new name-Scrap Buyers. They outcompeted Samona, Mambule and Volts to win the league that year, their first league crown_.
_Now a giant club, they were defeated in the following 2 seasons by Samona, but won the league again in 2016. The following 2 seasons were underperformances from them including the 2019-20 season where they were boosted by the financial muscle of Bob Trubish who had joined from Hotpool._
