Roundabout Construction to Resume at Route 94, Route 394, and Stoney Point Road Intersection in Hampton, Adams County
Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that its contractor plans to resume construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Route 94 (Carlisle Pike), Route 394 (Hunterstown Road), and Stoney Point Road (Route 1007) in the Village of Hampton, Reading Township, Adams County.
The first phase of this multiple phase intersection improvement project will require a closure of Stoney Point Road at the intersection of Carlisle Pike. Weather permitting, a detour will be implemented on Tuesday, May 12, using Route 234 and Route 94. This closure also will be in place for the duration of the project.
After approximately one month, the second phase of the project will begin with the closure of the Route 394 leg of the intersection. This closure also will be in place for the duration of the project.
The third and fourth phases of the project will require Carlisle Pike to be reduced to a single lane with traffic controlled by temporary signals.
Updates will be issued prior to the implementation of each phase.

If you see low flying helicopters
Adams, Cumberland, and York Counties -
Please be advised that weather permitting on Tuesday, 3/3 or Wednesday, 3/4, Haverfield will be mobilizing to the Met-Ed region and will be performing Comprehensive Visual Inspections (CVI)on the Met-Ed 115kV transmission lines. These inspections are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete but as always, inclement weather or any non-routine and outage patrols could prolong completion. Haverfield will also conduct routine patrols mid to late March in the Met-Ed region on the 500kV, 230kV, and 69kV transmission lines.
The helicopter to be used for these inspections is a black, Hughes MD500 with red tail registration numbers N9159F – photo attached.
• A comprehensive visual inspection (CVI) is a slow, structure-by-structure, span-by-span inspection where the inspector onboard the helicopter gets a thorough look from top to bottom at each structure, associated hardware, and conductors of the transmission line(s). The helicopter will be moving very slowly along each of the transmission lines and will often be seen hovering while carrying out these inspections.
• A routine patrol is a general, overall look at the conductors, hardware, and structures of the transmission line(s). The helicopter will be flying at speeds of 25-30 knots (25-35mph) where the onboard observer will be looking for any outstanding conditions on the lines and also may be seen hovering to get a closer look at any conditions that may be found.
Haverfield has been authorized to patrol the transmission circuits in their entirety (i.e. "breaker-to-breaker"), so patrols on certain lines may therefore extend into the neighboring regions. The flight crew provides information on their daily location to both Transmission Lines Maintenance and Transmission Operations, and the pilot will be in communication with any local airports when in their airspace. Additionally, the FirstEnergy will make every effort to contact any known sensitive property owners (e.g., horse or livestock farms).
