Respect, Honesty, Accuracy, Positivity, Fairness, Courteous…all covered in the USAC Social Media Policy.
Take a few minutes to review the USAC Social Media Policy. It appears that some of you have not taken this policy very serious.
Why are you quarter midget racing? Do you love the sport and want to teach your kids sportsmanship, determination, how the sport teaches life lessons, friendly competition and that life is not fair all the time? How did it feel the first time your kid did well and someone commented on their improvement or success? Or, do you thrive on bashing, threatening and posting negative words about the people that work hard to make this sport fun for your kids? Whether it is a USAC official, a Mom, Dad, Grandparent or Handler, this sport requires lots of hard work to make it happen. One day soon you are going to look back and miss these days!
Have you ever heard perception is reality? When you post words, regardless of vague or pointed, people’s perception is their reality. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment, would you want someone posting the same about you? Did your Mom ever tell you, if you can’t say anything nice, just don’t say anything at all?
We are human and we aren’t going to like everything about each other…agree to disagree. Take the good with the bad. Be a role model; be a person who these kids want to emulate.
Social media can be a great tool, but when used improperly, can be very damaging. I challenge each of you to finish out this race season sharing good news about your fellow racers, handlers, and officials.
The USAC Social Media Policy was implemented to make this sport and series the very best! If you choose to disregard my challenge there will be repercussions. The kids are of utmost important and therefore any negative social medial posts, vague or related to a racing issue that occurred, regardless if it’s your kid or not, will not be tolerated by USAC .25. Be extra careful liking, sharing or commenting on someone else’s negative comment as this is guilty by association.
I hope I am getting my point across about how important this topic is to me, my staff, and the quarter midget kids. We can do this!!
