Hi everyone! Incase you don’t know me, I’m Sara Holden, I danced at The School of Music and Dance for 13 years. I graduated this past year. I am now attending Penn State and am involved in THON. I am a member of a THON org named HEAL. We are paired with the Tuckey’s, who are our THON family in Biglerville, PA. The School of Music and Dance/Nebula will not be hosting a mini THON this year so this is a great opportunity to still contribute to a great organization. I put a donation box in the studio on the large glass case next to the office. I would appreciate any donation! Thank you! FTK💙
So I guess you're closed for the holiday weekend? Came for the open gym and there is no one here :(
Hot off the presses! Acts of Kindness Theatre Company is officially booked to produce NEWSIES July 27-29 & August 3-5 at Hanover's Eichelberger Performing Arts Center! Keep looking for EXTRA, EXTRA information on Facebook for upcoming auditions and more details coming soon in the headlines!
Now that we have all had time to relax after that fantastic recital, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of those that took time out of their day on Friday to help us set up and to those who stayed after the Sunday show to help us tear down. There were too many of you to mention by name but you know who you are. We would not be able to do wonderful shows like this without your help!! Special thanks to Matt Smith, Travis-Paige Harget, Brian Matusky for their help in pre-work to get ready for last weekend. Also to TimandKaren Brown Dunlap and Cody Dunlap for their backstage help during the shows and Tim Ardner for his lighting prowess. If anyone is interested in helping with future shows, please let us know. We are always looking for help and I promise that you will have fun while we work!

[03/23/20]   Good Afternoon Dance Families!

Unfortunately we are forced to remain closed in order to comply with the Governor’s most recent directives regarding non-essential businesses. Right now it is unclear as to when we will be able to reopen our doors.

In response to this uncertainty, we have created the following groups for our dancers to join so we can all stay intouch:
Facebook: SMD Dancers 2020
Instagram: smd.dancers2020
YouTube: SMD dancers

We are going to utilize these sites to provide content to all of our dancers including workouts, combos, stretches, instruction, recital dance choreography and much more! Please be sure to join the groups if you have social media & subscribe to the YouTube channel.

This is an unprecedented time for all of us and everything has changed overnight. But we are doing our best to ensure we stay in touch with all of you and continue your dance training as best we can.

We pray that you are all doing well and are self quarantined. We miss you all so very much and can’t wait to see you all again in person!

Much Love and virtual hugs to you all!
Miss Lauren & all of the SMD staff

For our dancers! While we are closed, this is a great way to keep dancing!

It's more important than ever that the dance community works together to support one another and help keep dancers dancing. In that spirit, starting on Monday, March 16th, we will begin streaming an amazing series of free live dance classes for the global dance community.

Everyone is invited! Classes begin every day at 3pm Pacific / 6pm Eastern.

Share it out and #keepdancing!

[03/15/20]   In response to the ever changing atmosphere surrounding COVID-19 and further evaluation regarding this unprecedented event, we feel strongly that we do our part in helping to contain and stop the spread of this virus as the health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority. Therefore The School of Music and Dance will be closing the studio for one week effective immediately.

The studio will be closed FOR ALL CLASSES AND PRIVATE LESSONS effective Monday March 16th - March 22nd with hopes to reopen Monday March 23rd at this time. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and any schedule changes or updates to this decision will be communicated to everyone as they are made.

Thank you for your understanding!!

[03/13/20]   As there continue to be closures and cancellations due to COVID-19. We have evaluated the recommendations of health professionals and have decided to remain open at this time. On any given night there are well under 40 students at the studio placing us far under the gathering limitation recommended by Pennsylvania health officials. We want to help retain a sense of normalcy for our students during this stressful time. That being said, every family is encouraged to evaluate the situation on their own.

The safety of our students is our top priority and we will be implementing strict policies for sanitation including regularly disinfecting door knobs, barres and other commonly touched areas and and requiring students to wash their hands or use the posted hand sanitizers before and after every class. In an effort to limit the number of people in the studio, parents should plan on dropping students off as opposed to waiting in the lobby for classes to end.

Also, if your child or anyone else in the household exhibits signs of any illness please keep your dancer at home. If anyone is sick at the studio they will be sent home immediately.

If you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.

[03/06/20]   Schedule update for Friday March 6th
There will only be 1 gymnastics class tonight from 4:30-5:30. Students who take the 5:30-6:30 class please come to 4:30 class.

6 Reasons Dance Training Makes Us Better Human Beings Everyone knows that training is the cornerstone of a successful career in dance.
