Aberdeen 1926
Thank you so much for a wonderful season of concerts in Sam Benn Park. The Park already looked fantastic, and then you capped it by partnering with Alpha Media to give us really great entertainment season. Will wait patiently to see what you do next year, you've set the bar high!
Hi Parks and Rec 😊. I was wondering if this awful mess and eye sore will be cleaned up soon?? I was told by others at Finch Park, the Fire was from a couple weeks ago...
Daughter had a fun time trick or treating downtown Aberdeen!!!
I was walking my dog this morning and found a pair of black and silver eye glasses on the Soccer field at Bishop Athletic Center 9/26/17
Represent your Neighborhood! WALKING THE NEIGHBORHOOD will highlight both the creativity of our state’s residents and those special Washington places, things and people that inspire us to get on the move.
Any idea when the summer trips for kids will be ready for sign ups? My kids are already asking!

[07/07/20]   Press Release/Updates, 7/9/2020
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, rules and safety measures have changed and continue to change. We will look to follow the Public Health Department recommendations, Governor’s orders/recommendations, and any variances approved for Grays Harbor County, regarding recreation and gathering restrictions as outlined in the Safe Start four phase approach. We are currently in Phase 3.
At this time:
• Parks are open, some amenities may not be available.
• Parks with sanicans will have 24 hour access. Restroom buildings within our park system will be open once staff has cleaned and sanitized them, these hours and days will vary. We apologize for any inconveniences.
• Walking trails are open, please follow the recommended social distance measures.
• Picnic shelters are open as long as people or groups are following the Governor’s safety guidelines. We are not reserving picnic shelters at this time.
• Tennis Courts are available; you can call 360-537-3230 to receive a code to enter the locked courts. No more than two individuals per court. Tennis should be the only activity on the Sam Benn Tennis Courts.
• Disc Golf Course is open. Please practice social distancing.
• Playgrounds remain closed. We are working on a safe plan to open them.
• Bishop Building batting cages are closed.

Free Summer meals in the park will have a different schedule this year due to the Covid-19 Health Crisis. Please see the attached for scheduled meal handouts in the Aberdeen parks. Due to social distancing measures, kids will be allowed to take the lunch from the park to enjoy it. This schedule begins Monday, June 22nd. The Aberdeen School District will continue their schedule through the end of this week.

[06/15/20]   The Stewart Park Trail is open again. Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Staff has made necessary repairs to make the trail safe. We will continue to make improvements to the 1 mile nature trail in the near future. Please continue to report any trail or park issues to 360-537-3230. Thank you, and enjoy the hike!

The Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department is in the planning process to replace the playground equipment with NEW play equipment; and install a Dog Park at Garley Park, the 1300 block of W. Huntley in South Aberdeen. We plan to increase the area of the playground and add new playground equipment. We have found that swings are a must, so those will likely stay.
The proposed Dog Park is a large fenced area where owners can let their dogs run off leash. The fenced area will be separated to allow smaller dogs and owners to enjoy the park away from the larger dogs. The dog park will have a double gated entry to each side and will be ADA compliant.
We are hoping to hear from you, the citizens, regarding the Garley Park proposed improvements. Unfortunately, due to the Public Health Emergency, we are restricted from having an in-person neighborhood meeting. Please share your ideas for improving Garley Park through this Facebook post. The Parks Department hopes to use input from citizens in our decision making for the overall park design. If you are a neighbor of the park, please share your ideas on how we can best serve the citizens of that neighborhood.
If you’d rather not share your discussion via a public platform, please email [email protected] or call 360-537-3248. You can use the subject “Garley Park” through any of these platforms.
We have received funding assistance, so far, from The Morrison Trust Fund, the Grays Harbor Community Foundation, and the Aberdeen Lions Club. We have applied through other sources as well and hope to hear back favorably from them soon.
Attached is an aerial photo of Garley Park with the proposed Dog Park outline.

[06/02/20]   The Stewart Park Trail is closed for repair until further notice. Please continue to follow on our page for updates. Sorry for any inconveniences.

[06/01/20]   There has been a couple bear sightings at Stewart Memorial Park. Although the playground is closed, some are still using the walking trail. Please use caution while in the area.
