So honored and amazed to be a part of this incredible team!! Continuing to grow 😍
Truthfully I was concerned about the arrangment of the fair this year - midway, food, etc.. However, after going I really like having everything together like it was this year at the fair. Food, games, and carnival were right there and made for an easy night for us older ones. In the past, it was almost like in sections where you had to backtrack if you were in the midway and wanted to get something to eat of substance or go into the buildings. Lots of walking back and forth in the past. This year you could get food and walk a few feet for a ride, walk a few feet to go into buildings, etc. It was convenient and nice to only be in one area.
is Tuesday opening night for PRCA?
Have you thought about having a special needs day. Like kids, parents, adults or family with special needs could come on their own day. The fair is our biggest and most excited event here in Abilene but for some of our kiddos with Autism and other behavior or special needs can not compete with the busy traffic of the regular days. It might help cut out some of the crowd and help some of these families who have to skip due to either over stimulation of people or what not. Just a thought.
Come rope and get warmed up for the county roping

Welcome to the West Texas Fair and Rodeo! A tradition that has been bringing families and friends together for over 115 years! Come out to the Taylor County Expo Center and you will be sure to find PRCA cowboys and cowgirls attempting to qualify for the PRCA National Finals Rodeo on some of the fastest, meanest stock Beutler & Sons has to offer! Hit the midway for rides that will leave you breathless, regardless of your age, as Carnival Americana brings in the most modern and up to date rides in the business. But what would a fair be without exhibits, food and music? Well, we have that and more! Stroll through the livestock exhibits and see some of the finest animals from around the great state of Texas. Take a walk through the Modern Living Hall and view the creativity of local people and the talents they bring to the fair. There will be music and other entertainment daily. It's all here, we invite you, your family and friends to come join us, the memories will last a lifetime. On behalf of the Expo Center of Taylor County, the volunteers and staff, I want to thank you for letting us be a part of this great tradition.

Our West Texas Fair and Rodeo Queen does a beautiful job of representing our organization!

It was a TIGHT competition today that ended with Co-State Champions in the Boy's Cutting event. Russell Bushaw dominated every round and Carson Ray threw down one of the best cutting performances we have ever seen scoring a 153 today. Let's just say we are going to be well represented at Nationals.🤠

Congrats to Mason Rust and Benjamin James, who also earned a spot on the Texas National Team.

A neat connection and a bit of a history lesson today on My Abilene Parks and Recreation that involves our West Texas Fair and Rodeo! Check it out

Can you guess this park?

This park is over 100 years old, originally named "Fair Park of Abilene" back in July of 1914. It used to host the West Texas Fair, the Abilene Zoo was originally located here, and Abilene's first children's playground was also built in this park. Do you know which park this is?

💥BREAKING NEWS💥

The Expo Center of Taylor County and First Financial Bank Texas signed a 4-year agreement to name the Livestock Barn the First Financial Pavilion. The First Financial Pavilion was built in 2018 and was part of Phase 1 of 3 of the $55,000,000 bond election passed by Taylor County residents in 2016.

Hundreds of thousands of spectators and exhibitors visit the Expo Center grounds every year to compete in roping events, barrel racing, cutting events and rodeo. Many of the events are agriculture-related and benefit the youth of our region. The First Financial Pavilion will be home to the youth showing at the West Texas Fair & Rodeo in September and the Taylor County Livestock Show in January. A portion of the proceeds from the Naming Rights deal will benefit the youth at the Taylor County Livestock Show during the premium sale. Funds from the premium sale can be used to purchase feed and products needed to maintain the integrity and health of their animals when they compete in future shows.

The First Financial Pavilion showcases an arena that is 129’x600’, large enough to fit three separate events. The First Financial Pavilion also has an office for secretaries and an additional room for hospitality. The First Financial Pavilion is equipped to handle over 800 stalls with electricity to each individual stall. Lastly, the building is equipped with a vet room and four large tanks that are a rainwater harvesting system that is used to conserve water to care for our facilities.
