Iron Mountain Fitness

We're a family made up of all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities, but with a common goal: to forge our path to peak fitness.

Iron Mountain CrossFit workouts are constantly varied, functional movements done at high intensity, with a lot of fun and community. The Iron Mountain CrossFit family is made up of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities, but with a common goal: to forge our path to peak fitness. This looks different for each person, and we're okay with that. We offer nutritional guidance, but we don't push a single "diet." Rather, we strongly encourage a lifestyle that suits you best as an individual. Exercise is a part of this, but nutrition, sleep, and other factors play a bigger role than most realize. Come join us and let us help you find your own path to peak fitness! Call today: 276-492-8127.

To say science is biased is to misunderstand the entire point of science. SCIENTISTS can suffer from dogma, STUDIES can be flawed or biased, but SCIENCE is not.

Science is a process that checks one study against others. It balances one scientist against others. Bias and dogma don’t go unchecked in the scientific process. In fact, the scientific apparatus has as its entire goal to root out bias, dogma and shotty incomplete research & ideas.

If a particular study describes something or a researcher discovers something, that is simply the beginning of the process. Now other studies and researchers come along and challenge those findings.

If a study is tainted by industry or fabricated results, this will be rooted out and eventually exposed. This is why you will hear those of us who read research use words like “may,” “perhaps” and “more research needs to be done.” This process is admittedly slow. Getting at the truth takes time. One idea leads to another. Some ideas are incomplete, others faulty. Researchers are human and therefore are not immune to bias, dogma and conflicts of interest. But science as a whole checks this, roots these researchers out and balances.

Sometimes the damage an individual researcher does can be immense (the entire vaccine autism connection was found to be associated with an unscrupulous researcher & other studies eventually found him out and showed no connection). By the way, Google is NOT research. The very way the search engine works is bias in the most extreme way. 99% of what you are getting through Google is your opinion being self-perpetuated by non-professionals who share your opinion. This is why opinions are self-perpetuating despite how wrong they might be.

If you want to protect against this kind of ignorance, do what science does; ask the opposite question. Test your self by challenging your own ideas. Look for things that disagree rather than agree with you. If you believe something strongly, then put it to the test and see if it actually holds up under the scrutiny of openminded inquiry.

If you need help, seek out those who place the sanctity of truth & science above being right. #nextlevelhuman
