Time commitment for volunteers expected to be around 4 hours. If you have any questions please contact Greg Buckley or Jenn Rose.

Blue Hills Trail Races - Registration Is Now Open (and Filling Fast!)
Registration is now open for the 15th Annual Blue Hills Trail Races, in the DCR Blue Hills Reservation. The Races will be held on Sunday, April 26 at 9 AM, starting and finishing on the north side of the Blue Hills Trailside Museum, on Route 138 in Milton. The races are directed and sponsored by Colonial Road Runners.
Once again, there will be two events: the moderately challenging FOX TROT (10 miles) and the easier BUNNY HOP (3 miles). The races will follow the same routes as in 2019, entirely within the Great Blue Hill Section of the Reservation.
We are keeping the “low frills, low cost” approach that many trail runners prefer. We do not provide T-shirts or trophies…but we DO provide a well-marked course staffed by many volunteers, several water stops, computerized timing, and post-race refreshments (soda, juice, bananas, cookies, chips, pretzels, etc.). Overall winners in each race receive Marathon Sports gift certificates and loaves of Beth’s home-baked banana bread, while age-group winners get packages of her chocolate-chip cookies.
The registration fee is just $12. Additional donations are greatly appreciated. All race profits are donated to the Trailside Museum (operated by the Massachusetts Audubon Society), in support of its nature-education programs for children.
As a condition of our event permit from the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Blue Hills Trail Races are limited to a total of 250 entrants. As of February 10th, we have reached 50% of the limit, just one week after opening registration! Please register as soon as possible, so that you do not miss out!

The volunteers covered Overall Race Management, Photography, Music/Announcements, Equipment, Parking, Course Set Up/Directions, Split Timing, Packet Pick-Up, Same-Day Registration, Food, Lead/Sweeper vehicle, Finish Water Stop and Race Timing. Fantastic turnout for CRR’s final Grand Prix race 5 Miles Home, proudly supporting Homes For Our Troops. To all who have served our country (past, present and future), we Thank You for your service and sacrifice.
October Grand Prix ✅ Congrats to all of the runners. Strong work out in the rain. And now for the fun!
Running in the dark these days? Take the following precautions to stay safe during your run.
Maximize reflective gear, which increases the distance from which drivers can see you to 500 feet. If you wear bright, neon or white clothing, drivers can spot you from only 180 feet. (For a car moving at 40 mph, it takes more than 180 feet to come to a stop.)
Think low. Most headlights are angled slightly down, so lighting the lower leg is important. Try reflective socks or shoelaces, and add reflective tape to shoes.
Accentuate the moving parts. Make sure you have reflective gear on feet, ankles and wrists, which move the most during your stride.
Be bright and flashy: Handheld flashlights or headlamps serve dual purposes, lighting your way and alerting drivers to your presence. Studies show flashing lights are more eye-catching than solid lights.
Use reflective gear and lighting to help you be seen and remain safe.
The Brockton Fun Run has been cancelled.
The After Party at Harry's is still a GO at 7:30. Please come and enjoy some pizza and soft drinks with your fellow runners. Cash Bar is available.
These are always difficult decisions but we take the safety of runners and volunteers seriously. Given the staggered start of the handicap race we would have had runners on the course and runners that had not even started to run when the lightning is forecast in Brockton.
Stay dry and stop by Harry's for some fun.
Brockton Fun Run - Status update due to weather forecast.
We are watching the weather very closely and may have to cancel the run due to lightning in the Brockton area. If the run has to be cancelled, the After Party at Harry's Westgate Pub & Grill is still a GO at 7:30 PM. If you were planning to run or volunteer we hope you'll still join us for the after party if the run has to be cancelled.
Thanks and see you tonight.
SBS PTO 5k Freaky Family Fun Run will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 starting 8:45am with kids race and the run/walk starting at 9am
