http://www.doshikai.net Doshi-Kai (meaning “the group pursuing the way”) was founded by Master Nagao Matsuyama, in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1984.
The atmosphere at Doshi-Kai is unique—serious and focused, but friendly and not militaristic. In this setting, you can really feel the difference between “commercial” martial arts and the rare traditional non-profit groups where the “art” is more important than the promotion, the technique more valued than the belt, and the individual progress is not measured by how much you’ve paid out, but by how hard you work on yourself.
Mission: DoShiKai is a traditional Japanese Shotokan dojo.

Dear Parents, Students and Members,
There has been a significant shift in the coronavirus outbreak since our communication a few days ago.
Today, Gov. Charlie Baker has placed a ban on gatherings of over 25 people and school closures across the state. Therefore, Doshi-Kai has decided to take proactive measures to help slow the spread of the virus by suspending all classes at the Dojo.
We will continue to monitor the outbreak and keep you informed as much as we can.
To help offset the time away for our youth students, we are working on videos and online study material. This way students can continue to practice at home while they are unable to attend classes at the dojo.
We are doing our best to ensure that this time away from the dojo will have as little impact as possible on our student’s ability to test for their next rank. More details will follow very soon.
Thank you again for being a valued member of the Doshi-Kai community.
From all of us here at Doshi-Kai, happy Valentine's Day 💕
Taijutsu at tonight's Adult Class, 2/11/20
It's Bo night at tomorrow's Adult Class. 7-9pm.
A big day today for many of our youth program students - testing day! Congratulations to our newest third kyu brown belts Yuzuki and Krish, our new second kyu brown belts Luc and Nathan, first kyu browns Shreya and Sofia, and last but certainly not least, a massive congratulations to our newest junior black belt Hrydia! Well done all, your Senseis and your dojo are very proud of you!
Our students had a great time at the annual IPPONE Kick-Off Tournament and Banquet and we couldn’t be more proud at how well they competed in some fierce divisions. Well done everyone, and let’s have a great season!
The value of tournaments lies far beyond winning a trophy medal. It's one of the best ways for a student to set goals, learn the value of tenacity, and - as the article states - even learn a bit about empathy along the way.
Doshi-Kai will be sending a group of students to compete at tomorrow's IPPONE Kick Off Tournament at the Boxboro Regency Hotel - come cheer them on!
