Operating as usual

Efficient. Effective. Safe.

Koko’s model stood out and was unique before we found ourselves in a global pandemic with strict guidelines to follow. Now they are exactly what you would want in terms of how a gym would be set up.

Our Digital Training Studio was socially distanced before it was a requirement. With every other machine shut off for the time being and clear markings as to where allowed training spaces are, we can keep our members extremely safe. There is no wandering around the gym looking for equipment to use, Your entire customized strength workout is done on one machine through #circuittraining on our patented Smartrainer and you are out the door in 30 minutes unless you add on a 15 minute #intervaltraining session too.

Koko FitClubs of Acton and Harvard are open! As of this morning, we have had 323 workouts and our members have lifted 1,684,284 pounds since our official reopening date of July 6. It has been so great to see our wonderful members and friends again in the last two weeks for the first time in far too long.

Took this shot to highlight a piece of the safety measures we are implementing and taking very seriously. Every other machine is available for use with clearly marked training areas for social distancing of over 14 feet apart between members working out to make the club feel safe and comfortable once again.

We hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and keep well. Remember one of the best ways to keep your body healthy and immune system strong is to exercise consistently. We can help make that efficient and effective.

Koko Fam,

Checking in with everyone during this crazy time. We are still open and are taking all precautions to keep the gym sanitized and safe for our members.

For those that are opting to stay at home until things settle down, I will be posting efficient and effective workouts to keep our bodies and minds sharp.

Tune into the next two videos for demos of a handful of mobility and warm up movements that you should do everyday anyway before your Koko workouts as well as a quick home workout.

Coach Hunter @hrgranville

Form Check Friday:

Today we’re going over the Trunk Rotation, also known as a Crossbody AntiRotation and a few progressions.

Tune in and make sure you’re doing these properly to develop a strong core for a resilient body!

Food For Thought Thursday:

Put good in, get good out!

Achieving anything of value should require a little bit of struggle. How else would we learn to appreciate what we’ve accomplished and how far we’ve come?

Embrace adversity and celebrate your victories but always be ready to get back to work!

Form Check Friday:

The Romanian Deadlift. On paper it’s simple, executing properly can sometimes be a little tricky. This is a great exercise that gets the whole body involved, specifically the posterior chain and core. This will be very beneficial for postural stability and alleviating low back pain.

Check it out!

Need I say more?

Eat colorful, real food the wya it’s found in nature!

Not processed garbage that comes in colorful packaging.

Motivation Monday:

Whether that is getting yourself to the gym on a rainy day.

Whether that is trying a new healthy food or meal.

Whether that is drinking those extra glasses of water to ensure you were hydrated throughout your day.

Whether that was opting to go to bed before starting that next episode on Netflix to make sure you are rested for tomorrow.

What we do today will be reflected tomorrow. Make the right choices!

Form Check Friday:

Today we took a look at the three different Lat Pulldown options we see while using the SmarTrainer here at Koko.

Tune in and see if you pick up any helpful cues to help you get more out of this movement while you’re at the club.

Form Check Friday:

We’re back and it’s all about the Chest Press this time around.

Tune in week to week and make sure you’re executing your movements properly!

Food is Medicine!

Not sure if this study also mentioned that berries are delicious, but chalk that up on the list of benefits mentioned above too.

Put some serious thought into what you’re putting into your body.

HumpDay HealthTip:

“KoKo Fit Club of Acton, this is FitCoach Hunter.”

“Hi, I’m wondering what the cost of the gym is.”

“Surely. Do you care to hear anything about what we offer here?”

“No.”

“Got it.”

These conversations worry me. Not because this person may not end up joining one of our clubs and experience the life changing benefits that Koko has to offer. I worry that someone will use this to justify not joining anywhere when they need it and suffer he consequences because they won’t know what to do at a cut price gym.

When someone is fixated on the expense of a gym membership and not the value of what they are getting in return, they have already made up their mind.

When you join here you get a structured, custom plan, complimented with expert coaching to guide you to the best shape of your life. Not just access to equipment. When compared to personal training, which can get very pricey very quickly, the bang for your buck with our program is unbelievable.

If that’s all someone needs is equipment and space and it works for them, all power to them, tear it up!

If someone needs or wants the structure and coaching but are turning it down because of price alone, they’ll make up for it and more in hospital bills down the line because of it learning how to properly strengthen and train the body to make it more resilient.

Food For Thought Friday:

Say whaaaaaat?

All studies have pretty much agreed it’s all about caloric balance and being in a slight deficit to ensure weight loss.

What this specific one is saying is that by avoiding processed garbage and eating foods found directly from nature, we can consume more food if we’re eating the good stuff because the amount of calories packed in a serving is lower.

So you can feel fuller for longer because of eating a satisfying volume of food that may have put you well into a caloric surplus had it been with the more dense likely processed option.

#koko #kokofitclub #foodforthought #fitcheck #nutrition #fitcoach # fitness #strengthandconditioning #performance #pace #strengthtraining #cardio

Fit Tip Friday:

Do your exercises extraordinarily well. Period. There is no point in trying to lift heavy if you are jeopardizing form.

I am by no means saying developing your strength is not important. What I am saying is the body actually gets stronger when you task it the way it’s supposed to by putting yourself in the proper positions.

We take care of the tricky side of training. Our FitCoaches and SmarTraining System will tell you exactly what exercises to do, the proper weight to use for the right rep and set ranges, show you how to execute with the perfect form, and how to pace the workout based on your goals.

All you need to do is walk through the front door. So...what are you waiting for?

HumpDay Health Tip:

A proper diet can fix so many health issues. Do your research because the science doesn’t lie!

Know what you’re putting into your body and know how it will benefit you or work against you.

Add a little #SmarTraining into the equation and now you’re adding some serious fuel to the fire!

Motivation Monday:

This one’s pretty straight to the point. If you’re not working hard enough, you will not see the changes you want to see happen.

If you’re not seeing the changes you want to see it could be down to a couple things.

If it’s effort related, it’s time kick it up a notch!

If it comes down to not knowing what to do in the gym or getting stuck in a routine, look no further, our Smartraining System can help with that.

If you’re concerned about a past injury or getting injured, talk to one of our FitCoaches as we can work around almost anything to get you through an efficient and effective workout while keeping you pain free.

Still thinking about how to get started on your fitness goals? Well look no further. We’ve got you covered here at KoKo.

Stop wondering what exercises to do, how much weight to use, how many reps and sets to do, and how you should pace yourself. We’ve got that part figured out by pairing technology with our training program.

Hump Day Health Tip:

Quit looking to medicine to fix all your problems, look at your nutrition!

While we are not doctors over here and obviously modern medicine is something we should be incredibly thankful for and should not be taken for granted, at times it is overused and overprescribed.

So many of your health needs can be found in its natural state in the foods we eat! So before reaching for the pill bottle, know what you’re putting in your body and do your research!

Whatever you’re about to eat, ask yourself: “What purpose will this serve, how will this benefit me?” Versus “Ooh I bet that tastes awesome, who cares what’s in it!”

Trainer Tip Tuesday:

Hands down one of my favorite cues we use in the club when coaching up a member whether they are brand new to the system or a KoKo Veteran. This is a big one, very important and very effective.

When doing weight training or cardio training, the name of the game is tension in all the right places to stabilize everything properly to get the most out of that given movement or modality.

There is no magical, circus act exercise that gives us a strong core. Its less about what we’re doing and more about how we’re doing something. It’s about how we approach each exercise or daily task of living.

So, whatever movement you are doing tighten up the mid section by drawing your belly button to your spine and squeezing your abs, i.e. bracing as if someone is about to give you a little jab in the belly.

That maneuver creates stabilization throughout the core that will keep your core strong and back safe. Think of it as an airbag for your spine.

Deadlifting? BRACE.

Bicep Curls? BRACE.

Cruising on the elliptical? BRACE.

Walking through grocery story with basket in one hand or carrying your kid around? BRACE.

In the car on the way to the gym? BRACE.

You get the idea...
