[08/14/19] Just in, The Acushnet Road Race will have Free New Bedford Half Marathon entries again this year. They will be raffled off at the race. You must be entered and present to win one of these prized entries. Once again many thanks to the New Bedford Half Marathon and the Friendly Son's Of St. Patrick for their generosity.
I have been asked about the new Acushnet 5K course. I will have a picture/graphic when we know the exact starting line. The finish line remains the same.
The course will be out and back, and you will find it an honest course to see what you can really do at 3.1 miles.
You will find the first mile extremely quick as it will be downhill for over 1 mile, then a challenging hill just after one mile followed by the same downhill that you just came up.
Mile two to three is going to be that first mile, but now it is slight up hills and flats. So here's the course.
* Start running/walking south on Middle Road at Lynn Ellen Dr.
* Approximately 1.2 miles turn Right on to Mason St.
You are making a loop here.
* Turn Left on to Burt Street.
* Turn Left on to Middle Road: IMPORTANT: ON RACE DAY THE TRAFFIC WILL BE STOPPED HERE AS YOU ARE GOING TO CROSS OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF MIDDLE ROAD. WHEN RUNNING THE ROUTE PRIOR TO RACE DAY, MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE TRAFFIC AS YOU COME OUT OF BURT STREET AND ENTER ON TO MIDDLE ROAD
* Proceed north on Middle Road staying in the breakdown lanes all the way back to the school. IMPORTANT: ON RACE DAY THE TRAFFIC WILL BE STOPPED ON LEONARD STREET. WHEN RUNNING THE ROUTE PRIOR TO RACE DAY, BE VERY MINDFUL OF THE TRAFFIC AT LEONARD AND MIDDLE ROAD. THIS IS A BUSY INTERSECTION.
* Proceed to the second entrance of the school, (same one as the old route) To the same old finish.
Kid's Back to School Challenge 9AM, No changes
Walkers will go off with runners at 10AM.
We hope you support us once again, we are proud to inform you that your support helped us provide over $700.00 to Kid's After School Programs, Donations to the Acushnet Teacher's Association Scholarship Fund, The Acushnet Public Library, Acushnet EMA Support Group, Healing Little Hearts ( Children with heart disease), Whitfield Manjiro, Acushnet 9/11 Fund, Fire and Police Halloween party for kids, Gateway Babe Ruth. And St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
WE ARE CHANGING!!!!
The Acushnet Road Race will no longer be 4.1 miles, It will now be a rather challenging 5K. It will actually be the course the walkers would take. The other change is the walk will now be part of the 5K run course, and therefore go off at 10AM. The Kid's Back to School Challenge will remain the same. All other aspects of the Acushnet Road Race will remain the same. The Team Competition,Individual Awards, and Food and Refreshment will not change.
[09/07/18] The 2018 race is in the books, and it was a success. Thirty two 12 and under kids all finished in record time. The walk was great, and again we saw a good competitive race in the 4.1 miler. You, the runners, braved the heat and humidity, and the Town of Acushnet thanks you for you support. See you again next year on Labor Day.
[09/03/18] Molly Comfort of Scittuate, MA and Aaron Dinzeo of Providence, RI win the Acushnet Road Race. Full results of the race on www.jbrace.com.

From all of us here at JB Race, to you and your family, have a great Thanksgiving, and when you get a chance, help those in need by adding something to a food drive. Remember as runners, we have the biggest hearts of all.
All the bills are paid, and we had a successful race due to the loyal runners who come back year after year.
Because of this, and listening to those runners who are passionate about road running, we are going to be able to go deeper in the TEAM Prize money for 2018. As soon as the committee and I are able to see what we can do to make this happen, I will post it. Still looking for idea's.
The Kid's Back to School challange was a big success. We were able to turn back $500.00 to the Acushnet School's After School Programs. Look for this to be bigger and better next year. Thank you to the Parents and Teacher who helped us out in this area. Big shout out to Kate Marcellino for not only getting us a sponsor, but getting the word out.
Another shout out to Tyler and Ossie Magalhaes, Acushnet Resident, and owner operator of Better Image Apparel. They printed and donated all of the kid's shirts.
The Friend's Of the Acushnet Library. Not only did they conduct the registration for the Kid's race, but they provide the manpower for all of the water stops in the featured 4.1 race.
Last, but not least, to Jon Dorn of Brewster Productions for volunteering his equipment and time to provide the music for the courtyard.
And how about that Acushnet Creamery? Is there a better ice cream. Thanks Doug Corey!
