Byng is excited to be one of the first schools in Oklahoma to offer Esports as an official school team for 7th-12th grades! This has been made possible thanks to new technology recently acquired by Byng STEM programs!
WHAT IS ESPORTS?
Competitive video gaming! We’ll have 3 teams, one for each of the three games we’re offering: Fortnite, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Super Smash Bros.: Ultimate. Each team will compete online against other schools across the nation. The same eligibility and sportsmanship rules apply in Esports as would apply to other sports.
WHY HAVE ESPORTS?
Last year, more money was spent in the video game entertainment industry than ALL major sports leagues COMBINED. It’s a huge industry that impacts nearly all students today. Most major universities now have their own Esports teams and are offering scholarships to skilled players. Offering this activity will help Byng recognize more students for their talents and will provide a group for those students to share their interests with. We hope to generate the same amount of attention and pep for this team as any other sports team!

On Day 2 there will be a Bedlam Overwatch match between OU and OSU esports teams!
