Club will also be taking over the Grab n Go meals that ACGC schools has been offering since school has been closed. Details will be announced at a later date.

The Lego Station is a favorite at Club, so I thought this challenge would be perfect for the kids! Share your creations here once completed!
As things slowly begin to re-open for Adair and Guthrie counties, the discussion on how and when Boys & Girls Club should re-open have started. Although things will look quite different for summer programming, the Board of Directors and I would like your input.
1. Will you sign you child(ren) up for Summer Club?
2. Would you need Breakfast Club hours (7am-10am) or Regular hours (10am-6pm)?
3. What time would you normally drop off and pick up?
For us to move forward with our plans to re-open it is especially important that parents respond. Please send your response to [email protected]

2.5 cups water
1 1/4 c. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. cream of tartar
5 tbsp. vegetable oil
2.5 cups flour
1. Mix everything but the food coloring together in a large pot
until somewhat smooth. It will be lumpy. Not to worry, the
dough will get smoother as it cooks.
2. Cook the dough over a low heat. Mix frequently. The water
will slowly cook out of the mixture and you’ll notice it starts
to take on a sticky dough appearance. Keep mixing until the
edges of the dough along the side and bottom of the pan
appear dry. Pinch a piece of dough. If it’s not gooey, the
dough is ready.
3. Place the dough on a counter top or large cutting board that
can withstand a little food coloring.
4. Knead the warm dough until it’s smooth and then divide it
into the number of colors that you’d like to make. Flattened
each of them, added a little bit of food coloring, then
kneaded it in. Add more food coloring to get the desired
shades you want.
5.Play with the dough right away or store it in a large Ziplock
bag or sealed container. Unused, it’ll keep for months.

The decision on the Adair Easter Egg Hunt has not been made. Meanwhile, the Iowa Egg Council is putting on a Virtual Egg Hunt. It started March 20th and goes through April 11th! The Adair Chamber of Commerce encourages you all to participate. You can use Easter Egg coloring pages or create a masterpiece yourself! If you post a picture of your work of art be sure to tag Adair Chamber of Commerce!
Here is a message from the Iowa Egg Council:
Iowa Egg Council announces a virtual Easter egg hunt and
coloring contest. Due to COVID-19 Easter egg hunts have been canceled throughout the state, and the country. Iowa Egg Council wants to keep the tradition and spirit alive for
children and is encouraging kids, and their families to visit iowaegg.org to download and print off any Easter egg coloring sheet, color the egg and place it on a window in the home for all to see. We encourage children and their families to go for a walk and hunt for eggs on windows, and share them with Iowa Egg Council on their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. If going outside is not an option, simply color your egg and share your artwork to one of Iowa Egg Council's social media accounts using #IowaEggHunt or #IowaEggColoring.
Iowa Egg Council's virtual Easter egg contest officially kicks off March 20, 2020. All entries must be posted by midnight on April 11th. A winner will be randomly selected and
announced on April 17th. The winner will receive an egg swag bag that includes: a tote bag, Amazon gift card, t-shirt, coloring book, pencil and stress egg.
We hope to spread positivity and enjoyment with this contest and continue the tradition of Easter despite the current state of the world right now. We look forward to finding and seeing all of the beautifully colored Easter eggs and encourage families to decorate hardboiled eggs and cook plenty of egg friendly recipes with your families at home. For recipe and egg decorating ideas visit Iowaegg.org or IncredibleEgg.org.

It was my honor to present the 2020 Boys & Girls Club of Central Southwest Iowa Impact Award to Mrs. Carol Plowman Saturday night!
After much consideration and discussion with our Board of Directors, we are following AC/GC Schools lead, and the recommendations from the State of Iowa, to remain closed to our members during the time school is not in session. We realize this may cause inconvenience to many of our families. We are working on ways to address any complication that may arise, but in the meantime, we are collecting names of young individuals who are making themselves available to babysit at individual households. Please contact me through Facebook instant messenger or email if you would like information on a babysitter for hire, or if you would like to be added to this list. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We have only the best interest of our members and our local communities in mind.
