Shade Tree Farm and Orchard

Shade Tree is open from Labor Day weekend until the first week of November or until the apples run out. We make cider, too.

We have apples for sale in the store as well as pick your own for families who want to have the orchard experience. We make unpasteurized cider and offer a variety of items in our orchard store including jams, jellies, gift items and cider slushies. We offer field trips for all ages and special events throughout the season. We have a small play area that includes a giant tractor to climb on. We have picnic tables and you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it at the orchard. We only charge admission for special events. The cost of picking apples depends on the size bag you fill: 1 bushel-$36.00, 1/2 bushel-$20.00, 1 peck-$12.00, 1/2 peck-$8.00, 1/4 peck-$5.00.

Yes, they are picking apples in the rain.

So, we’re sampling salsas today. Right now, we have cranberry, apple and pumpkin salsas out. Come try some.

[09/08/18]   Today at the orchard: We have 6 varieties of apples in the store: Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Gala, Fugi, Ozark Gold and Mutsu. We've got a few pumpkins to sell and will have more as the season progresses. Sharon is serving lunch today and has baked goodies in the store. Annabelle the Apple will be around this morning to meet and greet. People were still finding apples to pick yesterday, so there are still a few out there if you want to come pick. Farmer Tom is going to be making cider early next week, so we will have fresh cider next Thursday. Hope you will come out and visit.

[09/06/18]   I am a bit late in posting and I apologize. We had a great opening weekend and we so appreciate everyone who braved the heat to come pick apples. Because of the fabulous weekend, there are very few apples left to pick, may find some, but we always have apples in the store. Right now we have Ozark Gold, Red Delicious and Gala. Farmer Tom is gearing up to make cider and we will have fresh cider next week. Thanks, again, for the best opening weekend ever.
