Finding a way to get enjoyment out of your exercise is not just a bonus, it's a necessity. Very few consistently fit people look at exercise as a chore. Relying on will power alone only takes you so far if you never stop dreading the process. Worry less about finding the quickest fix and more about finding an approach that you can enjoy and sustain!

Think of your health as a bank account. Most of us simply wait for our health to go negative before trying to bring the balance back up, but by then we're already collecting fees and making it tough just to break even. If we instead try to accumulate a wealth of health, then we will have plenty to spare when age, disease, and injuries try to make withdrawals.

Coach Paul's Tip of the Day:
Many people believe that eating healthy food means forcing yourself to eat food that doesn't taste good. On the contrary, digestion begins in the mouth and food that does not cause you to salivate will not even be properly absorbed.
There are LOTS of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods out there, so just focus on the ones you LIKE! Your body often prefers one vegetable over another because it is in more need of the nutrients in that vegetable or will more efficiently process it. By listening to your body and not simply following a list of foods "everyone should be eating", you will have far greater success in sticking to your diet, enjoying it, and even benefiting more from it!

Every pound of muscle burns about 50 calories per day without any activity at all. So adding (or preserving) just 5lbs of muscle affects your base metabolism by 250 calories per day. That's like getting a short cardio session every night in your sleep!
Reminder of the week from Coach Josh:
Here is a visual difference between 5 pounds of fat and 5 pounds of muscle. Just remember the scale doesn't always tell you the whole story.
Coach Paul's Tip of the Day:
Always keep in mind that ALL stress is stored in the body, whether it is physical, mental, or emotional. Your workout can either release your stress or it can actually exacerbate it. If you are under more stress than usual, try sitting down with your eyes closed to relax for a couple minutes before you even begin to warm-up. Relaxing your mind in turn prepares your body to handle the physical stress of a workout without increasing tension, risk of injury, and poor posture.
Tension in the mind = Tension in the body
