Growing up the movie “Love & Basketball” was a MOMENT for girls who hooped. It was rare to see a basketball movie being told from a female perspective. This is why I’m so honored to join this conversation inspired by this iconic film. I’m even more honored to join this epic panel including its director () and wbb legend ( )as we discuss womens hoops, representation, activism and so much more. So for the last year I’ve had the privilege to be apart of this project. The City / Game exhibit shares the many stories & rich history of NYC Basketball aka “The Mecca”. To be able to help capture the stories & history of the women ball players of NY was incredibly humbling. To share my own experience, is one I’ll never forget. In this presentation, Priscilla Edwards, of Providence College (RI) touched on many topics but the overall theme was consistent. The emphasis on creating a well-rounded student-athlete involves skill development on the court, a strong emphasis on accountability and a desire to challenge players which in turn will force players to learn how to overcome adversity.

Entering another season at the Providence (RI) college, Priscilla and the Friars look to build upon their recent success and fully expect to compete for the BIG EAST championship and ultimately the NCAA championship.
