Hey there! Welcome to Brick Street Fit, (formerly BoxerciseDSM). My name's Ashley and I'm a professional fitness instructor and I LOVE teaching classes here in Adel.
My bread and butter is kickboxing and boxing--and that's exactly what we get to do in our classes!
**Our new fall schedule begins Wednesday, September 21.**
Wednesdays @ 6:30pm I offer a 1-hour heart pounding Cardio Boxing class with pads, gloves and SWEAT! We do simple boxing combinations, strength work and plyometrics for a total body workout.
Saturdays @ 6:45am we hit cardio HARD with Turbo Kick! It's a cardio based workout full of punches and kicks and set to some pretty awesome music. It's sure to liven up your Saturday mornings!

For most, it's accountability! Do you have someone that will hold you accountable, motivate you and encourage you to work your hardest??
You should! I'm running a challenge in March that will provide just that. A group of like minded people with similar goals that want to SUCCEED and finally see a change (not just in their bodies, but in their heads!)

I spoke with one of my clients recently about "mom guilt." She's striving to become a healthier version of herself, for her, but also for her family. The problem is, sometimes getting to the gym takes precious time away from the ones we love. Here's how we can overcome the mom guilt--AND some tips to get that workout in without missing out on the good stuff.
1. Remind yourself that you are doing this so YOU can be around for your children, your spouse, your family for the long-haul.
2. ALLOW yourself the precious "me" time. We're often at the bottom of our own totem poles as moms. Take some time for yourself because you deserve it.
3. TALK to your partner. Tell them your goals and WHY you are doing what you are doing. It's likely they will support you and encourage you to take that time for yourself.
How to do it?
1. Rework your schedule. You don't ALWAYS have to workout at a certain time or day. Get exercises in on the weekend so you have some weekdays that are low-key.
2. Workout with your family. Figure out a way to make fitness fun for everyone. A walk after dinner. A basketball game. Swimming at the Y. Anything that gets everyone moving!
3. Take a longer lunch. Ask your boss if you can take more time and make it up either at the beginning or end of the day. (You'll likely be able to find a workout buddy that will want to do the same!)
4. Make a plan. Write it down and stick to it. BETTER? Write down EXACTLY what workouts you will be doing so you don't waste time. BEST? Ask a friend to come along. You'll be more likely to show up if someone is waiting on you.
5. Workout at home. There are TONS of home videos you can do at home that are fun and quick. It also eliminates the dreaded drive to the gym and ACTUALLY walking in ;)
