Flash back to 7 years ago to when McKaty was born. I was so determined to everything "right" for this tiny new baby (plus I'm still shocked that they let us bring her home lol). I stressed myself to almost being physically sick trying to do what I thought was the right way because that's what social media and pamplets from the doctor told me to do. One of the biggest things I was super set on was of course breast feeding because I was told that's what was "natural" and the "best for the baby" but probably the biggest reason I was so set on it was because I read some stupid thing about how kids that were breast fed were a "healthier" weight growing up than those that were formula fed. This one hit me HARD because of all the weight problems I had as a kid growing up and I was determined to especially give my daughter the best start in that area of life.
Needless to say I tried the whole breast feeding thing for 6 weeks with McKaty and finally had to give up due to my milk supply, no clue where to turn to for help, a bout with mastitis, having Post Pardum Depression (again no idea about that either), and pure exhaustion and stress. Started feeding her formula the whole time and I cried and felt like a failure and felt like I was setting her up for failure as well.
Well, it's taken me 2 more failed breast feeding attempts (that lasted no more than a week), A LOT of personal development, A LOT of growing up, A LOT of giving people/social media content the bird (about a lot of topics), and 7 years later and guess what...today McKaty is a strong HEALTHY girl who knows she is beautiful and strong. Instead of stressing how I look I stress how strong exercise makes me feel and how I love feeding my body foods to help it be strong. We talk about listening to our bodies and that it's okay to eat treats as long as we don't eat too many because then our bodies will feel icky/sick. I don't talk about to her about how she looks but how STRONG she is along with Kenna AND Carson...because boys need to hear it too.
I parent my kids according to MY style. I vaccinate them, we watch TV all afternoon sometimes, I let them play the computer/phones/tablets, they play outside by themselves, they potty train themselves, I yell at them sometimes, I give them hugs, answer their questions, etc. And with this new baby I'll be formula feeding it from day one and the burden that is NOT on me is so refreshing. Never be afraid to parent how YOU want to parent because honestly it's no one else's dang business how you raise your kids. As long as they're loved and healthy then THAT is all that matters. So mom's know it's okay to give the bird to friends/family/social media etc. that give you grief on how you mother...know that you are the PERFECT mother for YOUR kids.

I have hit the point where this baby NEEDS to come out...however 9 days until the due date....
Who has gotten their workout in today? I'm still waiting for this babe to come out and I seriously cannot wait to get back to working out! Until then though here's a workout that YOU can do really quick that will work your whole body :).
- Push ups 10
- Alternating lunges (front or back) 10, count one side
- Squats 10
Do at least 3x times through and you'll feel better that you did :).
I've been reading a very interesting book lately and went back over a section on willpower and I learned something very interesting. I learned that the thought process/excuses are pretty much the same no matter the situation we're put in. The examples given in the book are:
-Your excuse for skipping the gym (or your workout) once again is the similar to a foodie's justification for bingeing for the 3rd day in a row OR how you talk yourself into putting off that important work just one more day is how someone else eases the guilt of giving into his cravings for a cigarette.
I found this very interesting and as I thought about it the more I can see how true it is! We tell ourselves that we deserve a break/reward for the hard work so that we can feel better about not continuing toward our goals! Once we figure out how we tick we can take better control of our lives and make our willpower stronger so to speak. It's not easy but it is worth it and do able!
PS I'm reading Thinner, Leaner, Stronger the simple science of building the ultimate female body by Michael Matthews if you're curious ;). PPS my boot camp will be awesome once back up and running thanks to all that I'm learning :D.

This pregnancy by far has been my hardest one so far and I won't lie I look forward to being able to sleep on my stomach, eat food (without forcing myself to), hold my sweet baby, and be able to roll over in bed without feeling like I just ran a marathon lol. I hope you guys get a good laugh out of this like I did :).

So I did this workout yesterday and only made it one time through each side because my muscles are ridiculously weak at the moment lol and I got super tired. This is a challenging low impact workout that anybody can do and I just wanted to share it! I found it on YouTube under the search 3rd trimester pregnancy yoga, the channel is “The Happiness Series with Natalie Magee”. Here’s the workout:
Light jog/march in place 1:00
Knee to elbow or side crunch alternating...can do :30 each side if you need to hold onto something for balance 1:00
Light jog/march in place bringing arms up and down 1:00
Alt. lunges, again hold onto a wall or chair if needed for extra balance (your choice for forward or reverse lunges) 1:00
Workout (right then left side all in tabletop position)
Leg Lift 1:00
Fire hydrant 1:00
Leg Circles (:30 left, :30 right)
Leg Cross 1:00

[04/12/17] I just have to share the awesomeness that is happening in the April challenge group that I'm in right now :). All the ladies in there have been feeling so much better, seeing results, and have been inspiring others to start making healthy changes in their lives! Seriously how awesome is that? One of the many, many reasons I help run these challenge groups...they help so many people find how strong they are and how good they can feel
[04/12/17] What if you could have access to thousands of workouts plus any new workouts that were to come out in the next year? What if you could also have all the meal plans and extra nutritional help? What if on top of all that you could have someone to answer every question that you have about working out and eating? What if you could have all of this for just over a quarter per day? Would you be interested?

One of the easiest ways to start on a healthy journey is to get enough water in each day! I always recommend aiming for half your body weight in ounces. Check out what else water can help with (ps there’s a butt load more that water does for us...drink up all!)
[04/10/17] I just want to take a minute and share an awesome place with everyone for an option if you're looking for a place to go during the summer. Here in Star Valley is an awesome new resort called Kodiak Mountain Resort and the best way I can describe it is it's like the Ruby's Inn of Star Valley. Their cabins are to die for and they offer different packages for adventures. Not only that but they're ALOT cheaper than Jackson Hole and we're only about an hour away from Jackson...a beautiful hour drive through a canyon anyway. I know that Mondays aren't always the best days but we can still make the most of it!
This isn't how I planned this pregnancy to go. I planned on exercising the entire time, eating well and for once not gaining 40+ lbs. I DIDNT plan on extreme adversion to food, dizzy sick days, and a ton of pain.
The only thing that has gone as planned is the whole not gaining 40+ lbs but that's probably more from lack of food than anything. I feel defeated when I can't even finish a 10 minute pregnancy yoga video and have to turn on a show for the kids so I can lay down for a bit...I feel awful when all I have energy for is getting my kids some mac and cheese all the while trying not to throw up. I won't lie...this pregnancy has SUCKED!
But out of everything I have learned to slow down...I've learned that even though I can't do much with my kids that they still love me....I've learned that I've taught them that healthy food tastes way better than macaroni and cheese (though they still like mac n cheese). I've been able to watch my body be strong because I made it strong before I got pregnant and that because of that I'm able to endure what I'm going through now...I've learned that if I don't get everything done on my schedule that life will go on. Because of all I've learned this pregnancy I can also say that this pregnancy has ROCKED.
There's good and bad to everything...we just have to choose what to try and focus on...I hope everyone has a great Friday!

[03/29/17] When chores are piling up and the choice is either to workout or do some chores just combine them! Seriously, making chores into a workout can make it fun plus it might even get the kids involved ;). Instead of using a traditional mop for the floor get four rags and clean the floor using your feet and hands. Do sit ups to get the laundry you’re folding out of the basket and once all folded do lunges into the room that you’re putting them away in. I could go on and on but think out of the box, get your sweat on and chores done all at once!
Let me ask you, how are your New Year’s resolutions coming along? Are you still sticking with them or have you fallen by the wayside? Were you hoping that this summer would be the summer that you finally feel confident in the clothes that you want to wear or just feel healthier and better?
Friends it’s not too late to reach your goals! There is still time to get to where you want to be physically and mentally before summer is here :). Seriously there is 9 weeks until Memorial Day...the “unofficial” start of summer. Think of what can be done in those 9 weeks!

I’ve had something on my mind lately….it’s been almost 3 years since I’ve joined Beachbody as a coach and it has seriously been on of the best decisions of my life. Before I joined I was seriously lost, totally unconfident, depressed, and just knew that I wanted to do something but I just didn’t know what it was. In comes Beachbody and the MisFit team and a group of women that seriously builds one another up, cheers each other on and most important celebrates the uniqueness of all we come into contact with. Not to mention some of the best fitness products I have come into contact with as well along with the support that comes from that. Seriously, we celebrate everything from scale victories, non-scale victories to someone realizing how beautiful and strong he/she is. It’s been one of the best things for my depression and given me a reason to make myself better which in turn has built my confidence.
I am a much better person than I was 3 years ago and am just so grateful for all that I’ve learned, especially since it gave me the confidence to launch Empower8 Boot Camp 2 years ago. I’m able to get up from the pitfalls of life, especially from the tough times that can come from trying to start up a new business in a tough career field. My outlook for my and my families future is so bright and I seriously just know that things will work out. I can’t put a price on how much I’ve gained just from the MisFit team and Beachbody over the past 3 years.
Whenever I would hear someone say “you have to have the right mindset” I honestly thought that meant that you just had to be happy ALL the time. However, I’ve learned some things over the past two years since I’ve really started working on myself and such I’ve come to realize that having the right mindset doesn’t mean that at all. Yes having a positive outlook on life helps but it isn’t the key to succeed, in my opinion. I’ve learned that it’s okay to have bad days, just as long as they don’t turn into bad weeks/months/years. I’ve learned that having confidence is fine and that in order to build your confidence you have to lose it once in awhile. I’ve learned that setting out to be successful (in whatever you’re setting out to be successful in) is okay. I’m still having a hard time with this one BUT I’m working on being okay with success and enjoying them.
Mindset can be hard and honestly I didn’t know where to start at all however if you’re still reading this you’re in luck! Monday my team and I are starting a self improvement group to help us grow, especially in the mindset area. It’s based off of the book “You Are A Badass” and will seriously be awesome. It doesn’t matter if you’ve read the book or not and costs nothing to you. We just want to share ways to help YOU to start working on becoming the best YOU that you can be.
