Did you know that not only does working out help with your body, it also sharpens your mind too?
You know exercise is great for your body and mood. But new research is showing that it can have an equally profound effect on your thinking skills. "Working out is one of the most powerful things you can do to strengthen the brain," says Wendy Suzuki, Ph.D., a professor of neural science and psychology at New York University. "A single workout triggers physiological changes that improve mental function," she says.

Staying consistent with working out is way better than puling a max weight and heading home.
A one hour workout is only 4% of your day. No excuses.

Is it ever worth it to sleep in and skip the gym?
Turns out, science still doesn't have the hard and fast answer (but if you find it, be sure to let us know!).
"Both sleep and exercise are main behaviors that contribute to physical and mental health," says Kelly Glazer Baron, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and sleep researcher at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.
Her research has found that clocking at least seven hours of sleep can actually help you work out longer and harder the next day. And the exercise/sleep equation goes both ways-people with insomnia who started a regular aerobic exercise program improved the quality of their sleep and felt less tired during the day, another study from Northwestern University found. Do you know how to do a push up correctly? Gear up, because the video in the link below is going to teach you how!
Don't have time for the video, here's how:
A. Start in a high-plank position with palms just wider than shoulder-width, palms pressing into the floor and feet together. Engage quads and core as if holding a plank.
B. Bend elbows back at 45-degree angles to lower entire body toward the floor, pausing when chest is just below elbow height.
C. Exhale and press into palms to push body away from the floor to return to starting position, moving hips and shoulders at the same time.
Do 8 to 15 reps. Try 3 sets.
Push-Up Form Tips:
1. Don't allow hips or low back to sag toward the floor.
2. Don't let elbows flare out to the sides or forward while descending.
3. Keep neck neutral and gaze slightly forward on the ground; don't tuck chin or lift head.
The only road toward progress is to just do it! 💪

Did you know that how you think, can play a role in how you feel?
Science is finding that how old you feel may actually predict how long you'll live, how happy you are, and your general state of health for the next two decades, says Jennifer Bellingtier, Ph.D., a postdoctoral psychology researcher at Friedrich Schiller University in Germany.
Studies show that adults who feel younger have fewer signs of brain aging and better muscular, pulmonary, and metabolic functions compared with those who feel older.
Fortunately, perception of age is something you can easily control and change for the better.
If abs are a focal point of your gym routine, there are a few myths you should stop believing.
Some of those myths include:
-"Zeroing" in on Your Lower Abs
-Abs can be made by your diet
-You should keep your abs tight all day for core strength

1. Check to see if the craving is real, or if you are just hungry with a healthy option such as a fruit.
2. Try something with dark chocolate, such as chocolate covered raisins.
3. Try eating a hard candy and let it last.
4. Try healthier versions of your dessert, like a chocolate avocado mousse, yum!
5. Try to chill out by placing a cold pack on your face or neck.
