For anyone interested in summer track Swamp Fox is a phenomenal program, I ran in it my last few years of high school, Coach Baker is an elite coach with an endless amount of knowledge for running! If you’re serious about Track & Field this is a huge opportunity for you in my opinion!

On the back side of that in July I would like to start Wednesday night workouts out at the Benton Grade School track. It will by no means be mandatory to make the team next year etc etc. It’s purely for those that want to continue to work/fine tune some specialized events we don’t get to touch throughout the season real heavily. Julys hot so I’d be looking at 6-7:30/8pm to avoid the hottest parts of the day. I will have more information on this in the coming weeks.

I also have packets that were given to me for a lil running rangers camp that will go on throughout a week in the summer, if that’s of interest to you let me know and I’ll get you the paperwork to sign up for it as well! As with any sport, the more you stay in touch with it, the better you’ll be.

Letssss gooo Noah! If you’re wanting to come watch I’m expecting him to run around 2pm. I believe if he can win his flight and if he does he’s got a chance at some hardware if someone doesn’t run well in the 2nd flight! Good luck buddy! You’ve worked hard for this day! Leave it all out there!
Also AI is crazy!!

Here’s a video of JG Fisher in his last ever Junior High Hurdle race winning his heat and setting a new PR by over a second for an 18.37. Good enough to place him 5th overall at Region 7 Regionals!!! Way to finish the season strong! We always want to run our best times at the end of the season and he did just that! Being a small school and having somewhat limited track time, we didn’t get a lot of time to work on hurdles in specific. Every meet he took it as serious as he could. He went through his warmups and got out and over a few before every race. I never ever had to question whether or not he went through our routines. Way to work hard this season JG!

The Girls 4x100 of Alex Thompson, Ava Robinson, Candace Carlton, and Ashlyn Thompson, had a goal of getting in on time. We knew going 3 seconds faster to compete for placing was steep but we wanted in on time. They have absolutely nothing to hang their heads about with today’s performance, they went out and ran their best time of the season rebreaking their record of 57.96 with a 57.73, just missing state by .49 of a second. Just look at those times and the schools we competed against. I’d be willing to bet you’re the only team going that fast without an 8th grader, and maybe the only one with a 5th grader. Any other regional we’re getting in. You are a top 10 team at state this year it’s just the way the cards are dealt. You girls have had a rock solid season, and are turning heads when they find out how young you are! We will be the ones running 54/55s next year! 💪🏼

Today was short lived as we took to the track for the Old Little 6 conference meet, unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans for us. However we did get all of our field events in and Id like to take a moment to talk about our throwers. Myette McClerren threw a massive PR her first throw of 60 and then threw 2ft further on her last throw for 62ft. Ann Jackson stepped up and threw 56ft today as well not once but twice. I think a PR by 8-10ft! Proud of their work this season! Ridge McFarland, Connor Householder and Westin Montgomery, threw for us of the on the boys side. They’re a young group of throwers that haven’t been discouraged by the numbers. They’ve continued to put effort into their technique and have steadily improved each and every meet! As they get older 2-3 years time they’ll be some rock solid throwers!
Up next Regionals on Thursday at Mt. Vernon High School. Field Events will start at 9:30am. Excited to go compete and see if we can get a few into the state meet!!

I took this picture before they went out and beat the current school record of 58.2 with a 57.92…this group is super special to me! I’m absolutely loving what they’re doing this season, but as 3 7th graders and a 5th grader I can’t wait to see some of the times we run next season! 💪🏼💪🏼 Let’s take a second though, to look at this picture, Franklin County went to Hamilton County and straight up dominated! 3 schools that combine into one at the high school level, going 1st, 3rd and 4th, with Frankfort taking 2nd… 2 class L schools 2 class S schools. Mighty impressive day for Franklin county schools today in the girls 4x100. Congratulations to all!

The Bulldogs took to the track yesterday for the Dan Kirk Invitational at the Pinckneyville high school track, what was calling for a bad day weather wise turned into a beautiful day for a track meet! Not everyday you touch the track are you going to run your fastest times, have the cleanest handoffs, or feel your best. Times across the board for us were a tad off but we competed well and worked hard. I was beyond thrilled with our efforts and ready to see how we will bounce back this afternoon at the Hamilton County Jr. High Invitational. 3 meets in a week is tough but weeks like this make us stronger!
We had a few performances that really stood out to me on the day. Andrew’s 400 was really solid, we’ve got a game plan to change our strategy a little bit to drop that down to a 60.
Their 4x400 wasn’t happy with their time but I was proud of their efforts and energy they’re putting into this! They competed well!
Our Girls 4x100 improved their official time again. About .5 off that record they’re shooting for! We bobbled a handoff that cost us a bit of time but they ran so well!
I decided to make the change to pull Ava and Candace from the 4x400 and run them in the open 400 to see what they’re capable of. Both unseeded ran the in the first two heats and controlled their heats respectively from start to finish! They ran some solid times and should place them in the faster heats going forward.
Noah competed well all day and made some massive moves on the last lap, last 200 meters of his mile to go get 3rd! His ability to set pace and then still turn it up when needed is mighty impressive. Solid PR buddy!
