Perhaps the most significant change at Augusta National is coming. Adding 50 yards to the tee shot will have a big impact at 13. A look on Google Earth shows a 300 yard tee shot coming to the neck of the dogleg and 240-250 yards into the green.

When considering a bentgrass putting green there are a few important considerations.

First is maintenance. We will provide you with a top quality greens mower at a very reasonable price but putting greens typically will need mowed 5-7 days a week during the growing season. You will need to water, fertilize and apply fungicides to keep the green healthy. There is plenty of information online to help but bentgrass greens are for those that have the time to maintain them and are very good at growing healthy grass.

Second. Bentgrass putting greens can be built at a lower cost than artificial putting greens but the time put in for maintenance and the costs of that maintenance has to be considered.

One of the key reasons you will improve your putting and short game at home is the utilization of time you can give to practice while you are at home. You will have infinitely more time for practice if you don't have to leave home to do it. Lets face it, practicing your short game at the course is limited at best and chances are you will be in a hurry to just "warm up" before your round. Your brain will also work much differently when you can practice at your leisure while at home. The ability to repetitively practice even if it's just a few minutes here and there will have a big impact on your game when you do show up at the course.
