06/01/20 - New CURFEWS Affect Our APA League Return!

Please click on the link below for information regarding another postponement of our APA League play.

league.poolplayers.com Hi Everyone. Due to the current local civil unrest, a curfew from 7pm to 6am have been issued. This means that certain locations must be closed by 7pm each night. Anyone out on the roads, without written authorization from their workplace, will be subject to be stopped and possibly arrested. At this...

Hey Everybody! We are aware of the curfew in Birmingham. I am currently looking into it but the curfew will probably mean that some divisions may not get started back until it's lifted.

Please be patient and hold all CALLS to our office and myself. I promise to have something more firm posted as soon as I can.

Time to get back to some FUN with FRIENDS!!

APA LEAGUE STARTS BACK ON MONDAY, JUNE 1!

That's right!!! We're finally getting to start back having FUN with our Birmingham APA Family again. We know that some of you may be still a little concerned for your health. Please know that Joyce, myself (Skip), and our Host Locations are doing our best to provide a safe experience for your return to League play.

Please see the TWO attached images which will provide you with our Safer-To-Play Practices & Measures for these upcoming weeks. The sanitary practices are to help you stay as safe as possible while out playing pool with your friends. Our measures are some division changes that we request all teams to abide by until our current Social Distancing and Capacity restrictions are lifted.

These division measures will only be for certain divisions due to their size and the layout of their Host Locations. If your division is NOT listed, then League play will proceed as it normally would under the current Social Distancing and Capacity restrictions.

If anyone has any questions, please have your Team Captain post the questions in our Q&A post in our Birmingham APA Team Leader Group. Please don't try to join that group unless you are a current Team Captain or Co-Captain. We will try to answer all questions submitted as promptly as possible.

See you all soon at your APA League matches!

Did anyone lose a pool case and a couple cues in the Bluff Park area? If so, please send me a Facebook message with a description of the case and cues. Thanks!

Poppa G's Billiards

Here we go again!!
Poppa G’s Billiards will open @ 5pm this Friday (5/22/2020)
9 ball tournament @ 7:30pm!!
Thanks for everyone for the support and patience!!

Attached is some info pertaining to today's amended Safe At Home Order from Governor Ivy. Since some Host Locations may be classified differently than others, we have also attached Restaurant & Bar Guidelines and Entertainment Venue Guidelines.

To us, it looks like our APA Host Locations are going to be able to open back up tomorrow at 5:00 pm with the use of their pool tables as long as they follow the 50% capacity and 6 foot social distancing guidelines. From reading this, we also believe that teams of 8 may be able sit together as long as there is at least a 6 foot distance from there table to another team's table and the host Location's capacity can handle that many teams in one night.

Read the material and let us know what you think. Share with your Host Locations as well.

Coronavirus killed the party: Alabama halts reopening of night clubs, bar games

Unfortunately, a new article published on AL.com states that we may have a little longer before we can start shooting pool in bars and playing APA League again. Here is the link:

https://www.al.com/business/2020/05/coronavirus-killed-the-party-alabama-halts-reopening-of-night-clubs-and-bar-games.html

al.com The state offered a definition of "nightclubs" this past week that limits what kind of bars can reopen. And bar games -- like pool, darts, cornhole -- are off-limits as well even as Alabama begins to loosen its restrictive health orders.

All the controversy regarding opening back up and whether are not pool tables should be available to the public, makes me feel like this...
