Anew Physical Therapy, Ergonomics & Wellness Studio

[01/24/17]   As many, starting the new year is a great time to set goals. One of my goals is to get back in shape! In the past I have done detox, cleansing and shakes. Does all work, but I found once I was done I gain the weight back and more. This time I want it to happen gradually and to be able to make it easy. So, I am going back to basics, portion control, exercise, and most importantly doing it with a partner. My husband and I are more successful when we do it together, it makes it fun. Next I am using 2 different apps: one that I input what I eat so I don't go over calories and also tracks my nutrients. The other app is for tracking my exercises, I love to walk and now I can track it and pace my speed. With the use of both apps, which are free, I can set goals and track my progress. I will keep you up with my progress. Let me know what is your new year resolution!

[10/21/16]   Today I turned in the keys of my office. Mix emotions as it was necessary after loosing at the insurance game. Insurances always win, no insurance company going out of business.
Anyway, it's been an amazing time, meeting so many great people that become part of my friends and family circle. I will be taking a 6 months sabbatical before I make my next move.
Almost 10 years of creating best practices, of healing and teaching healthier ways of living... I would have not been able to do it without some very special people that helped me one way or another like my first and best employee Dylan Kiyomura, another employee Jen Pengelly that got me on the Cloud, my amazing sister Nydia Pietri that without her I would have given up long time ago; and my loving husband Jim Harris for all his help.
I am very blessed to have been surrounded by so many good amazing people.
I had a dream, I followed it, I succeeded and now is time for a new chapter.
I will keep the page up to give healthy helpful tips and keep you up to date with the next chapter.
I love you all

Dear Patients, Friends!

Time flies when you are doing what you love and what you do best. It’s been almost 10 years since I opened Anew Physical Therapy, Ergonomics and Wellness, and its been an amazing time!

It is truly rewarding for me to see my patients make good progress through my treatments. I have had the opportunity to get to know you and customize treatments that can be incorporated into your busy life and help you become healthier.

Most of all, I am thankful you have allowed me into your life and into my heart. Just today I ran into a patient I treated last year, she was so excited to see me, I got a big hug and she thanked me for helping her get back on track and feel as good as she did. You have no idea how great that feels.

My goal has been, and always will be, to increase the independence and ownership of health for my patients.

Unfortunately, recent changes by the insurance companies have increased the overhead and decreased the reimbursements. Many clinics have modified delivery of services by cutting treatment times and/or having treatments provided by unlicensed staff. These options can compromise the quality of the treatment and patient safety. This is not the service that I want to provide.

* Please note: Given these conditions, Anew Physical Therapy no longer accepts insurance plans. For the next couple of months, I plan on developing some affordable wellness programs. But this transition may be difficult and it may include temporary closure or relocating office.

I look forward to continuing providing quality Physical Therapy services to you, your family and friends.

Warm Regards,

Alicia Perez, DPT, PT

This interesting article shows importance of warm up prior to athletic performance, but it goes beyond and combines the warm up and a mini strength training using therabands to further improve performance. The physical demands required of the body to execute a shot in golf are enormous. Current evidence suggests that warm-up involving static stretching is detrimental to immediate performance in golf as opposed to active dynamic stretching. However the effect ...

Miracle Marathon: Inside a children’s hospital
"Miracle Marathon - Children's Miracle Network Hospitals"
9/29/14, 2:13 PMDetails

Day 14

Imagine walking the halls of a children’s hospital. You meet the talented doctor or nurse that is busy saving lives, you look (but don’t dare touch) the expensive and essential equipment that is keeping a heart beating or a child breathing. For too many moms and dads, brothers and sisters, that is their reality, right now. Close your eyes, imagine it for a second… it’s just plain terrifying.

If you’ve never needed the help of a children’s hospital, I will tell you these are miraculous places. There are miracles happening right now, because those kids, those moms and dads, brothers and sisters, have you in the corner. I can’t take you on a hospital tour right now, but
I can take you on this quick, virtual tour
to learn more about what happens inside a children's hospital.

By raising funds for your Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, your name is on those bricks, in those hallways and in those operating rooms.

And, even though I can’t say thank you enough, when you reach the $272 fundraising goal, I will send you the official “I completed the 2014 Miracle Marathon” T-shirt, exclusive to only our top fundraisers. If you’ve already earned the shirt, Way. To. Go! And more importantly, THANK YOU!

Keep up the great work Miracle Marathoner. You, you my friend, are awesome!

For the kids,
