Camp Petosega will open to the public on Monday, June 8!
Rentals have resumed for the park's cabins as well as campground sites. Health and safety restrictions will apply at all times. While at the park, please keep at least a six-foot distance between you/your family and other guests and staff. Additional health and safety guidelines will be posted at the park, including for use of the park's bathhouse. Recent restrictions on staffing at the parks means most of our seasonal employees are just getting started this week. We appreciate your patience as we make adjustments to keep our staff and visitors safe while allowing everyone to enjoy their time at Camp Petosega.
Due to the late start this season and other restrictions still in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have canceled Camp Petosega's annual Father's Day Pancake Breakfast. We also plan to keep the bathhouse at the beach closed for now as our focus will be on frequent cleaning and disinfecting the campground bathhouse. There may be additional changes as time goes on and we figure out our best "new normal" at Camp Petosega. Help us keep the park open all season by reading and following notices posted around the park. Be safe, be courteous of others, and have fun!

*CROOKED RIVER LOCK OPENING FRIDAY MORNING!
We appreciate everyone’s patience as the 2020 opening of the lock was delayed this season due to the shutdown of county facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But, we are excited to announce the season opening of the lock on Friday morning, May 22. The lock will be operational from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from May 22 through June 28 with the full summer and fall schedule to be posted soon on the county website.
Unfortunately, Camp Petosega will not be able to open before Memorial Day weekend due to continued restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. At this time, we know we will be closed through May 28. We are now working to process cancellations and refunds on all reservations for dates through May 28. Until the restrictions are lifted, we are unable to determine when Camp Petosega will open for the 2020 season. Continue to follow us on Facebook for updates.
Please note that due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we still have very limited staff. If you call the campground at (231) 347-6536, please leave a message if no one answers. If you want to inquire about a reservation, please email [email protected] and be sure to include the name your reservation is listed under and the dates of the reservation. It may take a couple of days to process the Memorial Day week cancellations. Your understanding and patience is most appreciated!
As soon as we get the go-ahead from state and local health officials, we hope to get Camp Petosega open!
AND WE WANT TO BE READY!

NOTICE OF DETOUR THIS SUMMER NEAR CAMP PETOSEGA
For several weeks in the early summer of 2020, visitors to Camp Petosega will have to travel to the campground only from Pickerel Lake Road. Emmet County Road Commission has plans to replace the culverts on Banwell Road over Berry Creek, just north of Camp Petosega Road. Though the exact dates are not yet known, removal of the culverts and bridge installation is expected to take approximately four weeks, with the construction likely to begin in late June or early July, depending on weather. Emmet County residents visiting Camp Petosega will need to use Pickerel Lake Road as traveling to the park from the north will be restricted during the bridge work.
