19 May is the start of Safe Boating Week. To help start the 2019 boating season the U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary will have members at Grider Hill Marina on Saturday,18 May to pass out safe boating literature and provide free Vessel Safety Checks to be sure you have the required equiptment to help stay safe this year. We will be set up in the floating gazebo near the Ship Store with safe boating brochures on everything from kayaks to houseboats.
You can stop by to request a Vessel Safety Check and one of our members will be happy to come to your boat to do the check. Upon passing the safety check a decal will be placed on the port side of your vessel windshield which shows you care about the safety of all your passengers.
This is also a good time to consider joining Marine assist, the AAA of the water. For just $95 a year for a membership you receive 24/7 emergency service for breakdowns, jump starts,or out of fuel. One of the Marine Assist towboats is located at Grider Hill operated by me and I live just up the hill so response time is at a minimum. Please stop by to visit with us and please have a safe and enjoyable 2019 boating season.Thank you,Captain Carl Weinrich
Last couple of days we have been spray foaming some of the pipe docks.

Many of you have already heard of the fire in the woods above middle fork, close to the water edge. It is under control. Fire Department and Grider Hill employees are on site. The campers are all fine. The fire was above slip 1286-1275 1265-1235. The power was shut down to those slips as a precaution. At this time we do not know the cause of the fire. We will keep you updated on any additional info.
