Two Rivers Fly Shop

[11/03/19]   I occurred to me as I was walking from my car to the fly shop today that it is November 2nd. I opened Two Rivers Fly Shop on this date in 2002. It doesn't seem like it has been that long. I would like to say Thanks to all of my customers, friends, and family who have supported me in so many ways to help me reach this 17th business anniversary!

Wild weather at East Lake this week! Cold, sun, wind, snow, hail, thunder, rain. Still caught a few fish. Mostly on Chironomids, but the Callibaetis hatch came off Thursday midday for a couple of hours. The weather and the hatch should improve from here on.

Had a good day at Gold Lake last week. Trout were taking the big winged ants falling out of the trees. Buggers, nymphs and damsels also worked. No mosquitos yet, but I'm sure they are coming soon.

Had to do some searching, but finally found some trout. First fish on my Custom vintage Sage 3 weight. Good vibes!

Took a little family vacation to San Francisco for spring break. One of the cleanest, nicest large cities I have seen. Drove through Golden Gate Park and checked out the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club. Such a nice facility in a heavily populated area! (Oh yeah, there was a bridge, a prison, some food, street cars, pretty houses, and other stuff).

Just in time for Christmas: We now carry and can order Fishpond products!
Need a unique (and cool) gift? Fly ornaments tied in-house from $15.95 - $24.95 will dress up any fly fisher's tree.

Can't believe Two Rivers Fly Shop opened 16 years ago today! Thanks to all of my loyal customers for your support!

Caught a few September Cutthroat on my birthday. Such a comfortable day to fish after the hot days of summer. September weather is so great around here.

August is a good month to chase smallmouth bass! Thought I snagged a log at Foster reservoir, turned out to be this 18"+ smallmouth crushing my brown Wooly Bugger.

It's that time! Sun, clear water, dry flies, and willing trout.

Boulder hopped through a rugged stretch of Quartzville Creek yesterday , 9-25-17. Caught lots of trout on dries; Olive Stimulator and orange Elk Caddis. Fish were under the foam at the heads of the deep pools. Collected a couple of bruises for the effort. All of the trout were over 9 inches (no sign of the pesty 4-6" fly drowners) and 3 or 4 were fat 12 inchers. All very hard fighting, gave the 7' 3 weight a workout.

Fished the Middle Fork Willamette on September 18. A few little fish in the afternoon and then this fat 16 incher right at dusk. About 6 jumps and 4 or 5 hard runs!

Driving home from East Lake, could not pass The Middle Fork Willamette without stopping to make a few casts. Trout were on the caddis! Notice the double.

A great day at East Lake.

March Brown Rainbow

March Browns in high water! First dry fly fish of the year. (casting with one hand, filming with the phone in the other; sorry, I had to let go of the phone a couple of times to manage the line) enjoy.

Refurbished a couple old bamboo rods this summer.

Fun day on the north fork of the middle Willamette!

Not a lot of trout, but loads of beauty.

A relatively quick mouse pattern. Just fun!

Tungsten bead gun metal chironomid. Lake fishing season is upon us.

Tied up some foam adult salmon flies for the Deschutes and Rogue.

Small streams are going to be full of water and trout this season! Pulled one small trout out of Hills Creek the other day on an olive caddis. Half of the beauty of creeks lies in the sound of the water.

Tying with anticipation.

Three Dog Night played in Albany at River Rhythms on Thursday. Turns out some of the band members fly fish and tie flies. So they stopped by Two Rivers Fly Shop on Friday and hung out for a while.
Thanks to Pat and Eddie for the visit!

Two Rivers Fly Shop Newsletter  Spring fly fishing is here!  Trout are just starting to look up for dry flies and this will only get better from here on.  The rivers are generally low for this time of year but more fishable than they would normally be.  There are some fantastic fishing opportunities coming up, hope you are ready!

Perfect spring day on Quartzville creek today. Caught several trout. Took two rods and covered a lot of water to get them.

Nice day on the middle fork Willamette on monday! Caught four nice natives on nymphs. No dry fly action yet.

September on Quartzville Creek. I still have a soft spot for the small streams.

Really glad to see the rain. Spring and summer fishing will be better for it. Besides, this kind of weather inspires fly tying creativity!
I have a large stock of fly tying materials to get you through winter and swollen rivers. If you haven't visited two rivers fly shop before i have included some photos as a virtual tour.

Maybe if I tie enough winter steelhead flies it will bring rain!

First time I have ever seen the tube that drains Lost Lake. Impressive! No wonder the lake is lost every summer. Never seen it this low in mid-September and its only mid-August.
