Linn County Historical Museum
Due to the tremendous response we had to last Friday evenings lecture with David Lewis, we will be changing the venue for the next two. We were full to overflowing and even had to turn people away. It was so exciting to see such interest in the topic, but so painful to turn people away! We are in the process of locking down another venue so watch here for updates. I do know that the museum will be open from 6 till 6:45 for those who want to see the exhibit before the lecture. The next topic is "Long Story Short, Cascadia Cave Turns 10,000" with Paul Baxter, PhD on Friday, March 6.
THE NEW LOCATION IS THE BROWNSVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH AT 27910 SEVEN MILE LANE
Driving up Hwy 20 near Tombstone pass on the way to Clear Lake Resort. The Park Rangers have been very busy building the new yurt and it is almost complete.
Visitors to River Bend County Parks should be aware that there is now a $5.00 fee for use of the RV dump station at the Park.
River Bend, Sunnyside and Waterloo County Park's waste water systems are operated under a permit from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). In order to meet DEQ permit requirements, it was necessary for Linn County to make improvements to the River Bend waste water treatment system. The highly concentrated waste strength and flow volume from the RV dump was determined to be the main problem with the system.
The RV dump station fee will be used to offset the cost of operations and improvements of the waste water system. We are experiencing similar issues at Sunnyside County Park, which will need to be addressed in the near future. Due to permit flow limitations only campers registered at the park with an RV dump station are permitted to use that parks dump station.
For further information about this issue please contact the Linn County Parks Office at (541) 967-3917 or Email: [email protected]

The Linn County Parks Department (LCPD) has reopened the Stayton Bridge Boat Ramp for launching and retrieval of boats following the reconstruction of the ramp by Legacy Construction of Stayton, Oregon. Funding for reconstruction of the boat ramp was provided by the Oregon State Marine Board from boater registration fees and boating fuel taxes. Additional funding was provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Boater should be aware there is still some work to be completed for the project including entry road and parking lot improvements, which could cause some temporary closures of the boat ramp this fall. LCPD plans to have all of the remaining work completed by early November 2019. For additional information please contact the LCPD Office at: 541-967-3917 or email: [email protected] .
This information is also posted on the County Parks website.
