Bootyque Fitness is founded on 2 basic principles: 1) Our customers deserve classes they love and can afford to attend every day. 2) Our instructors work hard keeping us all fit and healthy, and they deserve to make a good living doing what they do. To this end, all our classes cost $5, and half of that goes directly to the instructor. It's a win-win. Most studios pay their instructors a set rate (usually around $20) per class. When you consider not only how much energy an instructor puts into each class, but also how much time they spend practicing, choreographing, and memorizing new material between classes, $20 hardly seems like enough. By splitting revenue with our instructors, they have the potential to earn a lot more. An 8 person class earns the instructor $20, and in our 2,000 square foot facility, you can fit much more than 8 people. A 40 person class is pretty typical for a skilled instructor, and 40 students would earn a Bootyque Fitness instructor $100 - much more appropriate compensation for their time and energy. The students win out, too. Our business model rewards excellence - the most popular instructors make the most money. This means that every instructor has incentive to try their hardest, and to deliver the most fun, powerful workout they can, at every class. An instructor whose class is boring or ineffective won't make much money, and probably won't stick around for long. The result: students receive a superior workout, for the cost of a fancy coffee. Pro tip: instead of a resolution to eat healthier or work out more, make one about being kinder to yourself... both exercise and nutrient rich foods count but so does pizza, and staying out of the gym all January if the resolutions crowds give you anxiety. Because it's a more forgiving resolution, you may find it easier to stick with beyond the first few weeks of the year. And we all could use a little more kindness.

We often have an all-or-nothing mentality when it comes to exercise. So much "fitspiration" convinces us that a healthier lifestyle requires relentless commitment to a complete overhaul of our habits. And while dedication is important in achieving any goal - physical or otherwise - this balls-to-the-wall, all-or-nothing approach can be so daunting we psych ourselves out. We give up or quit before we even start, because we're not ready to go all in. And we miss out on the very real benefits of small changes and occasional effort.
A little bit is better than nothing at all. And true wellbeing involves leisure reading, quality time with loved ones, home cooking, binge watching Orange is the New Black, snuggling with animals, and plenty of other things that get in the way of spending 3 hours a day at the gym.
