Jeffrey has been practicing yoga for over 16 years as a supplement to his football and Rugby workouts. After years of intense play and several sports-related injuries, he deepened his practice to gain flexibility and learn more about the body. Jeffrey earned his 500hr certification from Yoga Vidya, taught by Lauren Toolin, a master teacher in the ParaYoga tradition and an IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist. Jeffrey continues his education, completing an additional 300hr yoga teacher training program in the ISHTA Yoga lineage (Alan Finger), certified in ISHTA Meditation, ISHTA Yoga Nidra, trauma-informed yoga, aromatherapy, Reiki and a number of workshops in prenatal yoga and tantric techniques.

I love technology.

It enables me to thrive, connecting me with people in a myriad of ways (Instagram, FaceTime, YouTube, and many more). In fact, I am connecting with you RIGHT NOW! 😆 I am fortunate to have friends all over the World and technology keeps each of us involved in our lives.

But technology isn't perfect, and it's no substitute for experiences. The relationships online do not allow for touch, understanding healthy boundaries, or chasing your own dreams. While it does reference young people, the issue here is inter-generational.

The adoption of technology and the erosion of privacy will continue at a frightening pace. Do you think twice before installing apps or sharing data? Do you disable unnecessary notifications? Do you limit screen time, especially at night an hour or two before bed? What is the solution? Mindfulness and awareness. You must be clear about your burning desires and how to manifest them.

Yoga is a spiritual technology that enables you to tap into your unbound potential and prevents gadgets from hijacking your brain. With clarity and insight about what you want most in this life, you can take action and feel good knowing you're moving in the direction you're supposed to, rather than succumb to mental masturbation.

My Uncle Antonio is one of the hardest working and most consistent men I know. Everybody knows what it’s like to work hard, but what does it mean to be consistent? Show up, do the work. For him, that’s 6 days a week, with 12 hour days the norm. He doesn’t always love it and says the stress gets to him, thankfully retirement is around the corner. 💪 He embodies the notion of Tapas - self-discipline. Many people have ideas but don’t know where to start, or they get started but meander along the way. When starting something new, a change in habit for instance, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and spread thin or risk burning out. But by showing up, a little each day, and doing the work, even just 1% to get started, we get there. Consistency may not always get us exactly what we want but I guarantee it will yield a result. Fierce Friday Revive - 2/15 - It's Valentine's Day!

That time of year when we're recuperating from our holiday spending but find the opportunity to splurge on our significant others. 🌹🍫💍😍 Our minds love to dance in circles about the ones we love, and also the lack of someone special in our life. We may find ourselves fraught with emotions, wrestling with unrealistic expectations of ourselves or others.

The truth is this - we are all in a relationship with ourselves FIRST.

This week, we will explore the theme of love with a truly tantric practice to re-affirm our relationship with ourselves so we may invite openness, possibility, and satisfy our desire for love in our lives. We will explore chest opening and back-bending practices, explore pranayama, laya, and kriya yoga, ending with a truly tantric meditation aimed at connecting to the limitless potential within the heart. 💝

[11/29/16]   A friend of mine posted about the state of affairs in the World.

Here's my response -

The problem is the material World and our relationship with it - specifically a lack of consciousness. When we are born, we are inherently cast into a World of objects where an object requires a label to understand it. At the root, we see ourselves as individuals. 'I am me, you are you, therefore we are different.' We don't even see ourselves for the powerful beings that we are. Since we see ourselves as individuals and separate from the Whole, that's the first issue. From that separation, desire and aversion arise. We desire to be born and that which is pleasurable to us, we are averse to death and that which is not pleasurable to us. As we experience life, we learn through personal experiences and our environment. Our pursuits and reactions to the results are our personality. Next comes fear - we fear that we will not get what we want and fear we will get what we do not want. Next comes greed - when we attain something we desire, we want more and more of it. The stronger the desire, the stronger the greed. Next is miserliness, where we feel the need to control the environment around us (including people) to ensure we continue to satisfy our desires - an illusion there is not enough. Finally comes delusion in which we fail to see that all things in this life are not permanent and subject to change.

The reality is life is about two things - relationships and experiences. So long as we can manage our expectations to both, we can live happy without being douche-nozzles to each other. Unfortunately, people are not taught how to manage their expectations.

So people hate and see each other differently due to ignorance - a lack of understanding and a lack of awareness.

Come to a yoga class and learn to experience yourself, and therefore the World, as it really is!

Fill your own cup.

Create self-reliance. Fill your own cup. Your cup isn’t filled from your kids' accomplishments or your spouse giving you a pat on the back or more affection. Don’t wait for a promotion, or the calendar to turn another year to be happier. Find happiness in yourself. It’s a constant. It’s a given. It’s innately who you are. You just have to slow down your mind long enough to be able to re-experience it. Start from this place every day. Ideally, fill your own cup. Then take that happiness and contentment, and creativity that abounds from it, and share it with the world.

Take responsibility for your own happiness. Don’t wait for life to bring it to you. Become as self-reliant as possible. Practice is the key to this.
