18 hole championship course in Albemarle, NC. Maintained by the Albemarle Disc Golf Association (ADGA) and Albemarle Parks & Recreation. Club tournaments on 2nd Saturdays of every month.
Watch out for standing dead trees at Fox Chase DGC at Chuck Morehead Park. We have told Albemarle Parks and Recreation and they should take care of them. But until then, be careful! Here is a prime example of a rotten one that is about to fall on 11's tee pad.
If you'll walk the course backwards you'll notice red "X's" on the backs of the trees to indicate they need to be dropped.
We have the Ice Bowl coming up in a couple months and want to get the course in top shape. The Albemarle Disc Golf Association always do a great job!
Let the disc golf community know how YOU feel about Fox Chase and give it a rating and comment on DGCR. We are currently listed around the #7 best course out of 280 courses listed in NC. Not bad from a course that has not been updated since it's inception 10 years ago.
We would like to see the course "finished"...meaning a true white and blue level course with multiple pads and/or baskets and a reduction of the dreaded "tweener holes". AP&R are in full support and we have reached out to the original designer as a show of respect and valuable insight. Now lets finish City Lake Park in 2016 and then move on to this in 2017.
Support the Albemarle Disc Golf Association...the driving force behind disc golf in Stanly County. ALL profits from the events and the work is for and goes to charity. The ADGA are stewards of the sport and I encourage anyone that would like to get involved to lets us know. The ADGA is for the recreational golfer that wants to learn more...we are NOT a group of "elitist" and really want the sport and our resources for the sport to grow.
