[03/23/15]   The Albion Sportsman, March 22, 2014 by Dorian Monroe
Friday evening in Corry, the Albion Area Sportsmen’s rifle
team attended the week twelve competition of the NWPRL. It
was another exciting match with Joe Shrader setting the pace by
shooting a nice score of 396. Larry and Nate Pavolko backed up
Joe’s tally with good scores of 395 and 394 respectively. Dan
Campbell and Chris Moyer rounded out the team score with a
pair of 389’s giving us a total of 1967 to Corry’s 1900. Colby Pecorella was the hero of the evening when he almost single handedly won the handicap match for us by earning ten handicap points giving us a tally of fifteen points to Corry’s twelve. It
was a fun time competing. We also have to welcome back Carl Wright to the rifle range after a ten plus years in retirement. Carl shot quite well after such a long break. (382) It must be like riding a bike! Next week we host the Amboy riflemen at
our range.

Also next Friday the annual Spring Get-Together will be held at the St. Lawrence Center on Pearl St. in Albion at 6pm. Glen and his team have been gathering prizes and food for the gathering and the collection could result in one of the biggest parties in recent history. If you have never been to the Spring Gettogether
you will be surprised by the amount of prizes given away in one evening.

All thanks to the generosity of all our local merchants. Tickets will be available at the door for only $8 which includes 2 sandwich tickets + free pop and chips.
See Ya there!
Bye for now and keep on shootin! Dorian

[03/23/15]   The Albion Sportsman, March 15, 2014 by Dorian Monroe
After so long a time with snow and ice it is nice to see mud
again! I’m sure that novelty will wear off soon and we’ll only be
happy with grass. The AASC rifle team had a “BYE” this week and
stayed home to practice up for Friday’s journey to visit the Corry
rifle team.
The trap team traveled to Cochranton, for the monthly L&V
trap league shoot, on Sunday. It was a fierce competition which ended in a three way tie for the day’s honors. There were ninety six shooters in attendance for the event, from the five different teams. Ron Bayliss shot a nice score of forty eight for the Albion team which was backed up by a pile of forty sevens from Bryce King, Bill Miller, Gene Mook, and Russ Tibi giving us a team score of 236 which tied that of Cochranton and Saegertown. “They say if you can’t beat em, join em.”
The Linesville team wasn’t far behind with a tally of 232 and the Greenville team came in with a total of 229 broken birds to their credit. It was a fun day to be out shooting with a terrific bunch of people! Next Sunday the traps will be open at
Albion at Noon.

We are all working hard in preparation for the Spring Get Together which is going to be on a Friday this year for the first time in history. The event will take place at the St. Lawrence Center on Pearl Street in Albion on March 27th , at 6pm.
There are tickets being sold at businesses in the local area and will be available at the door.

Bye for now and keep on shootin! Dorian
