Hey Familias de Los Cursitos.
If any of you need smaller cotton masks for your smaller people, I have made smalls and mediums of my regular sized design.
(I also have the reg, large, and Xlarge for
you big Cursitos guardians and siblings).

I have multiples of some designs, a couple of special ones I think you’ll recognize, and will have more when these are gone.
I want to help ensure that every face is safe 😊
Smalls are fitting kids 3-7ish, med 8-teen, reg most everyone else, large just a little bigger, Xl a little bigger still.

Not really for sale, just cover postage, and any donations you make will be graciously accepted and go right back towards more donated masks. Somos Unidos 💛 😷 🖤

Please PM me if you need any.
Our Cursitos challenge has been met! While we lack in dancing skills we support our New Mexico United 100%! We love and miss you ALL!
Big thank you to New Mexico United's Chanel and Iliana for coordinating the Troy Lesesne virtual meeting with Los Cursitos last Friday, the kids loved it! Somos Los Niños! ... more, please Chanel Wiese and @Iliana Molina
If you have some bored, little Cursitos at home, this would be a great activity for them! Project Birthday New Mexico is doing a birthday card drive for children experiencing homelessness.
What a nice thing it would be for a bunch of very deserving kids to have their spirits lifted by our creative Cursitos!

Please see Project Birthday’s page or email them with any questions!

hello Cursitos! I am putting together a little super low production video with New Mexico United photos of us. please send me your favorites if you like :). Remember to wash your hands of 20 seconds. Lavate las manos por 20 segundos! Somos Los Niños!
We know this can be a stressful and difficult time for families, and we at Los Curistos are here to help. Our goal is to provide some ideas and fun activities for you while school is out. First up: Time to blend art and sport. What is your favorite memory of NMU? Either print from home and let kids draw incorporating the squiggle or save and use any mark-up app you may have. Post in the comments all the awesomeness you come up with!
Look papá, it's a United train, you can't touch it without washing your hands.

The new school year has started, and we're kicking things off with a fun (and safe) in-person melon tasting! Kids are excited to see their CWK educators and are really eager to cook (which will be soon!). In the meantime, we're introducing the basics of Cooking with Kids like hand-washing, using our five senses, and acknowledging individual preferences (a.k.a. "don't yuck my yum"). Kids are also learning about local farmers who grow melons--just this week, we used nearly 700 pounds of local melons, including watermelons, canary melons, and cantaloupe!

Los Cursitos were very excited to see that funding to move forward with the design and construction of a Multi-Use Sports Stadium was included in the City of Albuquerque’s top funding priorities for the 2021 state legislative session. We thank Mayor Tim Keller and the city government for recognizing how impactful such a stadium could be for our community. Obviously we are eager to see our beloved New Mexico United move to a long-term home designed as a place where we can come together to celebrate and root them on. We also know that a well-designed and smartly located stadium can boost the economy and serve as an anchor to bring communities together. We sincerely hope that the legislature will take this request into consideration in the state budget, and help bring our dream one step closer to becoming a reality.
If any Cursitos families would like to support this effort, please consider sending a letter to your elected officials. Below is a sample letter which you can modify to make your own. If you don’t know who your state representative and senator are you can go to NMLegis.gov and click on the ‘Legislators’ tab and choose ‘Find my Legislator’.

Sample Letter:
Dear Senator/Representative ???-
I am writing to ask for your support in funding the design and construction of a Multi-Use Sports Stadium during the 2021 New Mexico Legislative Session. As a member of Los Cursitos, the kid’s branch of the New Mexico United fan support group, I am very excited at the idea of having our own stadium where we can cheer on the team we love! I also think a stadium would be a great place to have other events, like concerts and high school sports championships, and could be good for the businesses in the neighborhood around it. I am thankful that Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller decided to include this project in his priorities for state funding this year. I hope that you will do the same.
Sincerely,

Fairy Tales and Scary Tales

Friends and [email protected], Many of us celebrated Juneteenth this weekend. As we work to dismantle systemic racism in our country, we are exploring how to do that work in our families and with our kids.

This reading by Arthur Bell and his daughter, Alayah, asks why princesses so often have white skin and what that means for black girls and women's self-image.

Please join us in listening and reflecting on this reading!
