The Goathead Gang, looking fierce! Last week Miriam, Mario, Jeff, and Noreen participated in the Bike Thru Burque challenge as a team, ending with a group ride to El Paisa for lunch. With a combined team distance of 90.66 miles, The Gang certainly explored the City we love so much!

Despite the rain it was a good event for ABQ CiQlovía and Bike Thru Burque

Are you ready?! We have so much stored for you this year. Stay tuned for details!
Bike Thru Burque
We've gotten many questions this year about the relative silence in our page regarding CiQlovía 2022. In February we lost Reynaluz Juarez, one of the reasons we took on the planning and coordination of this event and a huge part of the decision to specifically host it in the International District. Her unexpected passing was like a punch in the gut and many of us were left heartbroken and lost. Picking the event back up to continue her legacy has honestly been hard. We all wish she was here. We miss her energy, her "good morning sunshines", her laughter, and her strength. She'd probably tell us that community work stops for nothing and that there are many who count on us. But it's been hard to pick up the pieces.

We chose a longer route this year to honor Reynaluz's legacy to the International District. Her work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of her community had no bounds. She was so instrumental in the creation of walking school buses in the area and she constantly made sure talks about her community included her community.

This year's route from Louisiana Boulevard to San Pedro on Kathryn Avenue is dedicated to her and we are naming it "El Camino de Reynaluz". We hoped to have stretched the route to San Mateo, but were not successful. Perhaps one day. We want that stretch to be filled with joy and laughter just like she provided us throughout the years. We hope folks come out to walk, to bike, to play, but above all to be in community with each other.

Please join us as we celebrate Reynaluz, even in our grief. Bring your family, your friends, your neighbors and take back our streets. Please give us grace and patience as we move through our grief to make sure this event is possible.

Events begin October 8th with Bike Thru Burque rides and contests and culminates on Sunday the 16th with a celebration of life, community, and laughter.

We miss you sunshine
