2021 was a year of personal re-evaluation for me, especially my career. I decided to become a health coach because I saw a need - especially in young people - to feel supported in making lifestyle changes in order to embody wholly what makes them different. This society is constantly trying to dehumanize our individuality by pressuring us to conform to some external standard of worth. I disagree with this wholeheartedly; I believe that the things that differentiate us from others should be CELEBRATED! No one is the same. Put in a room a group of any similar kind of person and there will still not be any two that are identically the same. Even identical twins are different people! We have to embrace this! It is inhumane to attempt conformity.
I decided to focus my niche to teens and young adults who struggle to be themselves in a world that tries to make them something else. Anything else. I think our humanity deserves better than that.
I hear of too many young people who feel they have to stifle themselves; have to hide some part of their truth; degrade some aspect of their incredibly unique personality in order to fit in with the current culture, or some systemic belief - be it from a family system, religious standard, or other social elements.

There is a MAJOR misconception when it comes to what it looks like to be “healthy”. You actually DON’T have to eat specific foods or do specific workouts or be a specific size (!) to be healthy in your own body! 😱 This is something that has come up time and time again with my health coaching clients, and it simply isn’t true! A quick update on me: I’ve decided I want to focus my health coaching work with teens. I received an opportunity to work in Colorado with teens in an outdoor training setting! The focus of the program is to empower teens to contribute to their community and learn life and leadership skills relevant to outdoor work and beyond. This opportunity will grant me intimate insight to this client, their pain points, and help steer the direction of You Do You Health. It’s also excellent education on trail building, trail maintenance, and living outdoors, which as a hiker I am stoked about.
I’m in Colorado from April to August at least, I am currently not accepting new clients, and will have a better plan moving forward after the season.
Stay tuned for pictures of these glorious mountains and progress on projects such as trail building and maintenance.
