Where do you like to go trail running?
I'm looking for something a little shaded and possibly unpaved.

This Man Is About to Set a New FKT on the Appalachian Trail

Good for him! I have no interest in doing any sort of marathon running, certainly not 2 a day for 45 days straight.

outsideonline.com Up at 4 a.m., then run the equivalent of two marathons before dusk. Now repeat that for 45 days.

While it may seem true that men can lose weight faster than women I want to caution you against focusing solely on weight, which is really just telling you how much force gravity is exerting on you.

Leg exercise is critical to brain and nervous system health

"... using the legs, particularly in weight-bearing exercise, sends signals to the brain that are vital for the production of healthy neural cells, essential for the brain and nervous system. Cutting back on exercise makes it difficult for the body to produce new nerve cells—some of the very building blocks that allow us to handle stress and adapt to challenge in our lives."

https://medicalxpress.com/news/2018-05-leg-critical-brain-nervous-health.html

medicalxpress.com Groundbreaking research shows that neurological health depends as much on signals sent by the body's large, leg muscles to the brain as it does on directives from the brain to the muscles. Published today in Frontiers in Neuroscience, the study fundamentally alters brain and nervous system medicine....

[03/20/18]   I'm so over online courses. I'm a self-described self-help junkie and I love learning new ways to understand myself, my business, my craft, BUT these days everyone and their brother is offering an online course.

"Sign up today, enrollment open until tonight, don't miss out, create your best self ever for only $497..." Sound familiar?

They promise you the moon and stars, they promise you "real transformation" and what you get is an online course with a weekly email, and access to a private Facebook group. But there is no accountability for them. Sure they want to see you do well but mostly once the payment is in they are only looking to sell you their next thing (usually membership in their private community with a monthly billing option).

I'm a big believer in personal interaction for this reason. I don't do online coaching or online classes. We interact in person, in real time, every time. My attention is on you every time you come in. You still have to do the work, but I'm there with you every step of the way to encourage you, rather than leaving you to your workout and shouting "good job" while I'm working to monetize my next program.

If personal attention and highly customized workouts sound good to you contact me for a free consultation. Let's meet and figure out whether working together would make sense for you.

[02/13/18]   Do you work out with your partner/significant other? If not, do you find that working out adds another layer of stress to your day because it takes time away from family time?

[02/07/18]   In case you were wondering, here are the Mayo Clinic guidelines for exercising when sick:

Exercise is usually OK if your symptoms are all "above the neck." These signs and symptoms include those you may have with a common cold, such as a runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing or minor sore throat.

Consider reducing the intensity and length of your workout. Instead of going for a run, take a walk, for example.

Don't exercise if your signs and symptoms are "below the neck," such as chest congestion, a hacking cough or upset stomach.

Don't exercise if you have a fever, fatigue or widespread muscle aches.

[01/28/18]   What is your fitness goal this year?
