You blinked, and suddenly you were watching them stride to the plate with a confidence that took your breath away.

You were there for all of it.
The drives to towns you'd never heard of.
The hotels that all started to look the same.
The nervous energy before a playoff game.
The quiet pride, even in defeat.

You held the map for their dream.

And today, as you watched them walk off the field for the last time, you saw both kids at once: the little one who needed you, and the young adult who is ready to go on without you.

It's everything you ever wanted.
