Did you watch the NFL football game last night? If so, you might be interested that the stifling defensive team of the Tennessee Titans are prominently featured in this recent documentary.
Why don't you consider inviting the Naval Academy team to play in the NM Bowl? I believe it would give the game even more credibility and be a great draw.

TOP TEN MOMENTS #4: 2009: Wyoming (7-6) stopped the nation’s leading rusher, Fresno State’s Ryan Mathews, on three rushing attempts from the 1 in the first overtime. The Bulldogs (8-5) tried a quarterback sneak on third down, and Mathews came up short again on fourth down. The Cowboys, who won four times this season after rallying in the fourth quarter, scored on the first possession in double overtime, then held Fresno State on downs. Wyoming fans spilled out of the stands to celebrate as the school band played “Cowboy Joe.”

TOP TEN MOMENTS #5: 2012: Arizona overcame what appeared to be an insurmountable 4th quarter deficit to beat Nevada 49-48. The game featured the two top rushers in college football, Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey and Nevada’s Stefon Jefferson and proved to be the final game in the Hall of Fame career of Wolfpack coach Chris Ault. Trailing by 17 points entering the 4th quarter, and by 13 points with under a minute to go, the Wildcats scored two touchdowns in the final minute despite not having a timeout. Matt Scott hit Austin Hill for an Arizona score with just 43-seconds remaining to cut the lead to 48-42. Then, after Marquis Flowers recovered the on-side kick, Scott connected with Tyler Slavin for a touchdown with :19 seconds to play. The PAT was the difference as Arizona stunned the Wolfpack with a dramatic 49-48 win.

TOP TEN MOMENTS #6: 2007: A steady Lobo rushing attack picked up yards and first downs on the ground in the second quarter, and New Mexico moved the ball downfield with success. After crossing into Nevada territory, however, the Lobos began to run into difficulty. Inside the Pack 40-yard line, Nevada forced a stop after Donovan Porterie was sacked for a 6-yard loss. All-American kicker John Sullivan came into the game to attempt a career-long 53-yard field goal for New Mexico. Sullivan, who had played the entire season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left (plant) leg, completed the kick, thus giving the Lobos a 17-0 lead with 5:55 remaining in the first half. The 53-yard field goal is still a New Mexico Bowl record to this day.

TOP TEN MOMENTS #7: 2015: A wild game, featuring over 1000-yards of total offense saw the Arizona Wildcats hoist the New Mexico Bowl trophy for the second time in four years, holding off New Mexico 45-37. U of A quarterback Anu Solomon and linebacker Scooby Wright, who had both missed previous games due to injury, returned to the lineup and claimed the offensive and defensive players of the game, respectively. Arizona’s quick-strike offense needed only 19:08 of possession time to amass its 45 points. Still, the ‘Cats had to hold off a late Lobo rally. Down by 18 points, UNM rallied. Quarterback Lamar Jordan, who ran for three touchdowns and threw for another before leaving the game with a knee injury led the New Mexico Offense. Austin Apodaca’s touchdown run got the Lobos within 5 points in the 4th quarter, but an interception on UNM’s final drive sealed the win for Arizona in another thrilling New Mexico Bowl.

TOP TEN MOMENTS #8: 2006: The inaugural New Mexico Bowl came down to the final minute as San Jose State beat New Mexico 20-12. The Spartans controlled the game throughout, led by offensive MVP James Jones who caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. New Mexico squandered opportunities all day, fumbling the ball away to the Spartans four times. With under a minute to go, SJSU players doused their head coach, Dick Tomey with the symbol of victory, the Gatorade jug. Tomey, was visibly unhappy because he didn’t feel the game was in the bag. Sure enough, UNM scored with :15 seconds to play to cut the lead to eight, then appeared to recover the on-side kick. However, the Lobos were flagged for a penalty on the play, and the Spartans celebrated their 9th win of the season, a total which surpassed their total of wins from the past three years.

TOP TEN MOMENTS #9: 2018: Utah State (10-2) and North Texas (9-3) featured the best winning percentage of two teams in any bowl game outside of the “New Year’s Six” in 2018, but Utah State and phenomenal quarterback Jordan Love proved to be too much for the Mean Green. Love threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns in the Aggies 52-13 win. North Texas quarterback Mason Fine suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter and the UNT offense, which used four total quarterbacks, could not crack the talented USU defense. The Aggies, played the game with interim head coach Frank Maile after Matt Wells accepted the head coaching position at Texas Tech a few weeks earlier. Utah State ended the season nationally ranked with an 11-2 record.

06/04/2021

TOP TEN MOMENTS #10: 2019 - San Diego State, featuring one of the nation’s most dominant defenses put on a display, and so did the SDSU offense in the Aztecs’ first ever appearance in the New Mexico Bowl. And, while it was SDSU’s first time in the event, it was a homecoming for head coach Rocky Long, who hoisted the trophy as the New Mexico coach in 2007. Central Michigan, who played in the MAC Championship game two weeks earlier, couldn’t get rolling offensively, turning the ball over three times and mustered up only 277 yards. Albuquerque, NM native Jordan Byrd rushed for a career high 139 yards and was named co-offensive player of the game. The Chippewas, who were 1-11 in the previous season, finished 8-6 under first year head coach Jim McElwain. The Aztecs finished 10-3 and nationally ranked. The game ended up being Long’s final one as SDSU head coach.
