CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL TEAMS!!!
The most memorable part of the SENAI tournament was the middle school boys game when one of the players passed the ball to an opposing team member who was learning how to play basketball. He even rebounded a missed shot and gave the player a chance to make his first 2 points. Great sportsmanship!!!

The inaugural Striking Eagle Basketball Invitational and Education Fair (SENAI) is formerly known as the New Mexico American Indian Classic which began in 2011 at the Santa Ana Star Event Center with 28 Native American teams from around the state of New Mexico to honor the education of youth through a college fair, career awareness, health workshops, and other educational venues for participants. Our SENAI event moved to UNM in 2015 and has 64 teams participate which represent the proud nations of Navajo, White Mountain Apache, 19 Pueblos, San Carlos Apache, Mescalero Apache, and non-Native American teams which built a successful event that has attracted over 20,000 spectators, 300 volunteers, and over 3,000 student participants. This years 8th Annual Striking Eagle tournament will take place at UNM Johnson Center beginning with a Junior High tournament on December 21-22, 2018 with 16 junior high teams, 8 elementary teams and a student leadership conference Our Senior High SENAI event will take place at UNM Johnson Center on December 26-28, 2018 which will also include a dance social, workhops, and a continal student leadership conference. Also, new to SENAI this year are the Darryl Apachito Memorial Scholarship for SENAI male athletes, and the Sandy Chavez Memorial Scholarship for SENAI female athletes.
