Happy Holidays! We are having a little fun this week and testing you to see who knows the most about our New Mexican holiday traditions! Each day between today and December 18th we will be emailing our residents and posting a daily New Mexican trivia question. If you guess correctly, your name will go in a drawing. You can have your name put in the drawing up to 5X if you answer each question correctly! The winner will receive a special holiday surprise announced Monday, December 20th.

Everyone feels their mother is the best and greatest and to that person she is. The reasons I am forever in awe of my mother are the following.

My mother was there for us every day growing up. She wasn’t overly affectionate but we knew she loved us by how she treated us and my dad. She showed us how to treat people with dignity no matter their race, s*x or religious beliefs. Growing up she encouraged us and we were safe to explore different paths. She taught us how to work, take care of ourselves and others always.

My parents were selfless with their time and lives. When we became adults they went to the mission field for years helping different cultures and teaching them about God, helping them with whatever they needed. They have dedicated over 35 years to helping others. When my sister passed away a few years ago my mom stayed by her bedside night and day, bathing her, singing to her, reassuring her she was loved and held her hand as she slipped from this home to her Heavenly home. My Mom and Dad took my sisters two little kids and have given them a home full of the love, joy and peace we had growing up. They never complain and find such joy in their new role.

My mom is truly a precious gem that I am constantly in awe of. If I am half the woman she is I am blessed.

Over the next few weeks, we'll share tips and advice from our teammates, friends, and residents on activities you can do to help keep on top of your mental well-being while staying at home.
