This week I'm REALLY working on my parenting. My kids only get me for a portion of their day. So I really try to validate my daughter. That is getting REALLY hard to do as she starts to get sassy and whiny. ☠️It's hard y'all. So I'm transforming my ability to be patient...yes I still lose it sometimes, but I'm learning to set boundaries and try reasoning with her before I get frustrated.
.
So skip the cliche of "Transformation Tuesday" today. Instead, I want to celebrate all you've accomplished!

"Never let someone dull your light simply because it's shining in their eyes."

I may have got a few looks today. Mostly met with smiles from friends. And I admit, sure, it's a little loud. But you know what? I spent a lot of my life quiet because I thought it was respectful, or the right thing to do.
.
All I ever got out of it was social anxiety, bad body image, and unfortunately, the belief from others that I was rude. 🤷🏻‍♀️
.
You can't win them all.
.
But when I started to find myself, started to get comfortable in my own skin, what I realized is: I AM FUN 🎉 I AM BEAUTIFUL 🎀 and yes, I can be a little extra and loud sometimes. 🗣
.
I've had to learn to reign in my voice at times. But why should I dull my personality? It's the best part of me!
.
I'm looking for three bad-ass women who want to find their inner light and let it shine too! If you are:

There will never be a "good time".
.
To wake up early.
To skip the cookie.
To drive to the gym.
To read the book.
To spend the money.
.
But what about to make your dreams come true? What about to be happy?
.
A business partner said last night that absolutely no one, and nothing is responsible for your happiness but YOU. And because life is life, by this principle, there will therefore never be a good time to be happy.
.
Unless you make time. Unless you make you a priority.
.
Early can be five minutes.
Fruit is also sweet.
Workout at home.
Podcast on your drive to work, while getting ready in the morning, while scrolling social.
Spend the money on things that grow you, and that last, like experiences, memories, and skills.
.
And above all, TELL SOMEONE your goals. Saying them out loud makes them real. And forces you to be accountable for your mouth!
.

Every day can be an adventure, if you let it be. The question is, will you let it?

I've made a commitment to myself to not only get outside my comfort zone, but to let it change me. 😱 And wow has that been interesting! Today, I actually may have found a new love that rivals the things I've let fill my heart for many, many years.
.
The cool thing is, that I found something that BLENDS all the knowledge I've gained over the years, rather than rival it. Isn't that something? Who wouldn't want to learn more, but also be better while they're at it? I wish I had more people in my life who were well rounded when I started - I'd probably be much further now if I did!
.
I'm excited to bring knew knowledge to my people for sure! The question is, are THEY ready to get uncomfortable too? @ Southern California

Oh hey! 🖐🏼

I just realized I hadn't properly introduced myself this year. So if you're new here, let's shake hands and have a quick chat.
.
I'm a 30-something mom of two, a teacher turned Jack-of-many-trades, home-brewer with a business adventure on the horizon, and a fitness professional. And while you'll likely get a little of it all here, just know you'll probably see the two things that fuel me the most on my page: my babies and the fit life.
.
I've been a fitness professional for going on 11 years now, and have taught everything from cardio to yoga, from weights to dance, and lots in between. More recently, I spent the last five years as a national Master Trainer for Beachbody LIVE. That took an unexpected turn in November 2019, and I have found myself in 2020 opening myself up to lots of new opportunities in my industry.
.
I LOVE working with people to reach their health goals. I love the friends I've made teaching, and the lives I've been invited into. IT FUELS ME.
.
But also, I like food. And obvio my brews. So I like to take a REALISTIC approach to helping my peeps out, because, we all want a great butt and to enjoy life too.
.

Centered•Grounded•Well Rounded•Ambitious•Ready

So it's taken a hot minute to gather my thoughts for 2020 after a bumpy 2019. Without hashing up a bunch of unsolicited information, Here are some highlights:
.
I came back to a hostile work environment after having my son. I was one of 25 Master Trainers (out of 100) to work with Shaun T and launch his new program. I got a new-ish day job. My company decided to change directions and WE all had our MT titles ripped out from under us.
.
Wow. Talk about a whirlwind. In there I basically had three promotions; but the gigantic demotion that came after an almost 11 year build, on an industry I've come to identify myself completely with really (and I mean REALLY) wrecked me.
.
But here are the facts friends. I'm blessed beyond measure to have a beautiful family, supportive and loving husband, and a network of friends that I BUILT through my life in fitness. My 2020 vision may look different than I thought it would at this time last year, and that's ok. Without this ride, I wouldn't be here the person I am today.
.
So for 2020, my "goals" are simply to be and enjoy the ride. To be
•Centered•on what matters (family first)
•Grounded•by controlling what I can
•Well Rounded•by diversifying myself
•Ambitious•by taking chances
•Ready•for the great things ahead!
.

A year from now, you'll wish you started today.
.
I've got 23 more days left on this program, and I realized a few days ago that I'll finish on Baby D's first birthday. I'm pretty happy with my progress so far, especially in my legs (I really hate wearing shorts, but finally feel like I'm not jello). I can't wait to see what three more weeks will bring!
.
Nutrition has NOT been spot on this time through, mostly because I have been a bum slice, so I think I'm going to do another round and focus on actually applying all my nutrition certifications to my diet for once. 😂
.
I like to tackle my sticking points when it's hardest! Fitness in the summer when I want to sleep in, and food over the holidays when I want cookies and tamales!
.

I love them more than I love coffee.
.
We are celebrating my daughter's 4th birthday this weekend, and are trying to make it a BIG deal. She's been such an amazing big sister so far, and gives relentlessly to her brother. But I know she feels like she misses mom and dad time.
.
So yes, I'm spoiling her and doing things her way for a few days. It's a little crazy letting a three-nager run the show, and I have to count to 10 in my head some times...
.
but how often do you get to show someone they are your number one(s)?
.
For me, it means taking all day to drink a cup f coffee.
.

I'll never be good enough.
.
I spend lots of time beating myself up about the things I can't do. Lots of time with perfection paralysis - it's a real thing.
.
Sometimes it's easier to look at all your flaws and failures than it is to even just notice all the good in your life.
.
It really only took a leap of faith for me to lose 30 lbs (pre babies), and again 40 lbs (after the first), and yet again 60 lbs (after the second). But you know what is harder than all that sweat, those moments I hit rewind because I can't stay on beat, harder than waiting for the scale to move?
.
.
.
.
Thinking I'm not good enough to inspire other people to see past their own walls.
.
I'm curious. What walls do you build so high around yourself that you can't see YOUR good?

I'm the worst mom ever.
.
I'm incredibly selfish taking time everyday for myself to decompress. But my mind is always going 100 miles an hour, my plate is incredible full, and - well, sometimes with the kids in my space, and the noise, noise, noise, I just have a hard time focusing.
.
My sick baby filled couple of days "off" had me more "on" than you'd think, I still had to work from home, and tomorrow is a big day in my training world, just before I head back to the grind on Monday.
.
Any other mom's out there ever feel like they're failing at everything?
.
As crazy as this late workout was today, it was just a what I needed to turn the volume up and carve out a little me-time. Sure, the kids, the toys, the noise, it was all there in the background. But that's life. If you can't find your center, you can't enjoy the things around you, like the kids entertaining themselves without me helicoptering!
.
Stay strong mama. You're not selfish, and you're not failing. You are role modeling, and pouring from a full cup. Do you too! 😘

"Little by little becomes a lot."

Left: day 0, right, today (stripped leggings was last week).
.
I've never been one of those instant gratification people. In fact, I've always been someone who sort of seems to lie dormant and then come out of no where. But that's not to negate a lot of hard work that happens behind the scenes.
.
I am constantly challenging myself, disciplined, willing to take risks that may-or may not pay off. This time, I risked an unfamiliar nutrition plan, lower cardio than I would like to admit, and an unfamiliar training regime. The scale hasn't moved as much, I've been frustrated, nervous, and curious if I should quit.
.
My pants are too big: even the stretchy kind. 😂 Guess it's safe to say I'm happy with the way my small progression is paying off. I'm only half way there, and excited to see what else may come!
.
Hang tight in your progress friends, a penny saved over and over is a big check in the end!

I'm so excited for these new headshots from one of my longest reigning friends! Had lots of fun playing with color this weekend! Plus, my arms look buff 😃.

Someone asked me today if I was doing two-a-days and what I was eating. And I have to be honest, it's exactly what I show you in my stories every day, and not a bit more.
.
20-30 minutes of intentional focused exercise everyday. At home.
.
Morning pixie dust. Breakfast omelette. Snack superfoods. Leftovers for lunch. Solid dinner. Sometimes some guilt free muscle brownie mix for dessert. Most the time, there's a donut on Friday.
.
It's not a secret. I'll teach you to fuel for your goals, and workout with purpose if you want to. All I need to know is your level of commitment! You in? Drop one! 🔥👍🏼💪🏼💯❤️🎟🙋🏻

Do you have laser focus or tunnel vision?
.
Not going to lie, I am the queen of letting things consume me in the quest for perfection. Example: I just started a new job, and even though I KNOW it's a good thing, comments from people around me have made me feel like it's not. My solution? Go out there and prove people wrong. Be the best. "Focus." Commit.
.
But thinking I've got something to prove has made me start to obsess over too many details to count, and I feel the stress building.
.
You ever been here?
.
Add to it my normal routine of burning the candle in three other spots, and I'm stating to feel the burn out.
.
Today's 100 second challenge caught me off guard because it was a mental fitness moment asking me to slow down. Today I realized being 100 is not about being perfect, it's about growing in your challenges by learning from change. It's about slowing down and taking time to stretch out what you've been focusing on - be it your body, or your work - is ok to breathe and give it a rest sometimes so you can come back bigger and stronger.
.
Be bigger. Be better. Be stronger. But don't lose focus of what you want but narrowing your vision!
.

La Vie En Rose.

Look social media is consumed with pretty pictures, which to be honest, take time to set up. Please stop comparing yourself to the "spotless" lives of other people, and instead view the beauty in your own life.
.
Sometimes my pictures look super cool. You see a "skinny girl" who is happy, her cute kids, and pretty food.
.
But more often than not, if you follow my stories, you'll see the following:
•laundry in the background, because there is ALWAYS laundry
•my kids toys EVERYWHERE, because #momlife
•books and papers out like a mad woman, because #teacherlife
•some chubby areas on my belly, because I like food
•me being self conscious about my body (see zit story from yesterday 😂)
.
Today, I just want to highlight how I'm looking at my own life through rosy glasses. My house is a mess, I ate 🍕🍺 last night because I just survived the first week of work - so I'm feeling fluffy and not ready for the pool today, but... DAMN my lightning jump today was on point!
.

You can't move forward by looking in the rear view mirror.
.
I don't know who needs to hear this today, but I'm going to share a little story with you. I've been BEATING MYSELF up about a magical number I last saw BEFORE I got pregnant the second time. At 33/34, that number seems silly TBH, but I was nearly addicted to seeing it again. The number isn't important though and I'll tell you why.
.
#realtalk 🗣 I THOUGHT the number was associated with me fitting into these silly pants. I wanted to fit into them because they were pre-baby pants. Wearing clothes that I wore 17 months ago had me thinking I was me again. That is it.
.
But why was I defining me by clothing? Why not the fact that I am successfully raising two humans, working full time, slinging not one but two side hustles, and still sleeping? It seems silly that I was focused on who I thought I should be instead of who I am.
.
Ask me if I ever tried the pants on in the last 8 months since Daniel was born. No, I didn't. And yet, I was consumed by the number I thought equaled the pants. That equaled me.
.
I'm 15 lbs heavier than I was last time I wore these. But there is room in them. Because I'm STRONGER, faster, leaner. More muscle, less fluff. More time management, more love going around.
.
Stop measuring yourself by an idea of who you think you should be. Start measuring your successes and growth instead. Try the damn pants of your life on folks - you might be surprised the room you made for yourself just by growing.
.
Tag a friend who's growth you admire!

Misery loves company.
.
Isn't that so true though? When we are going through a rough time, it's easier to commiserate with someone else than it is to find a way to 💥POWER💥 through and get rid of the negativity. Isn't it?
.
Totally not miserable at all here, in fact I feel ah-mazing! However I just got my 🍑handed to me not once, but twice (because I'm currently between programs and still on break so I did some abs and weights...35 minutes TOPS). And as I'm feeling like a total failure because I'm supposed to be a bad @$$, I look over and see this 👀.
.
My girl, one of the ones who TRAINED ME, a Master Trainer colleague, an on-my-television boss, @melissamade, sitting in the exact same position as me. Exhausted, energized, POWERFUL.
.
And that is why I show up. Because in tough times, I POWER through. I push the negativity out as I sweat, so I can sit, relieved it's over, feeling strong.
.
Someone somewhere looks at these pictures of me like I looked at Melissa today, and thinks to themselves, "YES girl, I can do this too!" And so I show up not just for me, but for you too.
.
Misery may love company, but joy loves company too. And if you laugh, the world will laugh with you.
.
