Sandia High School Track & Field and Cross Country

I want to give a huge congratulations to Gabby Domenici for placing 2nd in the heptathalon at the 2023 Great Southwest Track and Field Meet. Gabby represented New Mexico and competed against females from all over the United States. Job well done Gabby

2023 Sandia Girls Track and Field banquet was a success. We had an amazing time and loved this season. Great job ladies, coaches, and parents.

Congratulations to Gabriella Domenici for signing to Carroll College in Montana!!! She will continue her track and field career competing in the multi events. Good luck and the sky is the limit.

Sandia Alum update, Kaelyn Fenstermacher placed 5th overall in the hammer throw and helped the New Mexico State Aggies win a conference championship. Kaelyn also graduated on the same weekend with her degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical engineering. Way to go Kaelyn, the sky is the limit and you keep going higher and farther, we are so very proud of you. Go Aggies!!!

Lastly super sophomore Leilani Clark placing 5th 200m with a time 26.11. This was Leilani’s 3rd medal of the day

Spectacular do everything senior Gabriella Domenici with a 6th place finish 300m hurdles 48.20. This was Gabby’s 3rd medal of the meet.

Fabulous freshman Emma Babb 3rd 400m 59.46 after only a 30 minute break after her relay. This was Emma’s second medal of the day.

4 x 200m Relay 1:45.15, 2nd place Leilani Clark, Ayla Dils, Emma Babb, Kailey Centers. Second medals for Leilani, Ayla, and Kailey, first for Emma.

Next up Gabriella Domenici 3rd Place 100m hurdles 15.80. That was the second medal of the meet for Gabby.

We started the day fast and furious, podium all day. 4 x 100m Relay placed 4th overall 49.41, Leilani Clark, Ayla Dils, Gabriella Domenici, Kailey Centers.

Team state dinner 2023. This is what it’s all about having fun and enjoying each other. Now it’s time to go get medals!!!

We are needing all Lady Matadors Track Fans to help vote for our very own Gabriella Domenici for Girls athlete of the week for her amazing performance in the 100 hurdles. Gabby placed 1st at the APS Metro Championships and getting faster every week. Gabby also just arrived from her Deca Trip and helped our 4 x 100 to a 6th place finish and helped our 4 x 200 relay qualify for state and place 2nd. Let’s make this happen matadors and matador fans. Day 2 APS Metro Championships part 2. We ended the day as fast as we started. We got a wonderful medley team that keeps getting faster every week that then saw 2 of our girls come in 2nd and 3rd in the 200m Kailey Centers and Leilani Clark and finished with a top 6 finish in our 4 x 400 relay. Way to go Lady Matador track and field!!!! Now onto district and qualifying more events for our state meet. -5A

Day 2 APS Metro Championships part 1 of a great meet. We started off with Pilar McCulley on Thursday placing 2nd in the high jump, then a 4th by our 4x 100 relay. Gabby D sprinted her way to 1st place in the 100 hurdles and she then joined us in the 4 x 200 relay that came in 2nd and qualified for our state meet.

Day 1 APS Metro Championships pictures and fantastic updates. Kailey Centers punched her ticket to the state meet in the 200m and that now makes it 3 races entered for the state meet. Congratulations!!! We got some great action pics of Gabby Domenici getting another pr in the 100 hurdles after just getting off plane from Deca Nationals.

Day 2 Richard Harper Invite track meet. Once again more prs and amazing performances. It was fun in the sun type of day.

Day one of the 2023 Richard Harper Invite was fun with many prs and a Congratulations to state qualifier in the 200 Leilani Clark. Our team spaghetti dinner at Albuquerque Academy was a huge success with both boys and girls squads. A special shout out to coaches daughter Ariel Grace Maestas supporting our Matadors in a team shirt.

Great JV meet today, amazing weather, fast times, and plenty of fun.

Congratulations to Gabby Domenici and Pilar McCulley for competing at the 2023 Marilyn Sepulveda Invite Meet. Both our ladies are seniors and have qualified for our state championships in the high jump and Gabby in the 100 hurdles. The sky is the limit for these two.

Our Sandia Girls Matador Track and Field Team had a fun and fast Cleveland Storm relay meet with more state qualifiers, more pr times and throws. Great job team, let’s keep it up.

Our wonderful 4 x 400 relay team ending a good two days of competition at the APS Invitational. We qualified more events and athletes and finished 6th as a team. Great job to all and now on to the Storm Relays on Thursday.

Shout out to Sandia Alum Adriana Tatum for last weekend’s amazing races at the San Diego State Invitational track and field meet last weekend. Adriana placed 3rd overall in the 200 open and scored 6 points, Adriana also placed 6th in the 100 open and scored 3 points. Very impressive sprinting against other tough schools. We are all proud of you and way to continue to represent Sandia High School and our state of New Mexico. Good luck at the Texas Relays!!!

A huge thank you from SHS Girls Soccer Captains cheering on our Matadors Track and Field team even in winter conditions. Our Lady Matadors did fantastic and placed top 6 in every event we were in.

Amazing spring break hill workout today for both the boys and girls track and field team. They are truly believing in the motto “Pain is temporary, Pride is forever”.

Congratulations to another Sandia Girls Track and Field Alum Kaelyn Fenstermacher. Kaelyn competed in multiple events for our Sandia program and is showing her multiple talents in the next level. Kaelyn is a great example that dreams come true with hard work and determination. Keep it up we are proud of you.

Well that’s a rap, first week of official 2023 track season has started. We had an amazing JV meet Thursday and had great open races and did excellent in our relays. Our varsity was at Cleveland Invite and did amazing as well and had our first qualifier Gabby Domenici in the High Jump 5’2”!!!!!!! We placed many top six finishes and had plenty of fun.

Here we go, 2023 season is here just about here. Scrimmage meet first, regular season starts this Thursday and Friday. Come see and support our Kady Matadors this season. We are here to make some noise.
