I've coached swimming, diving, & gymnastics for over 20 years now. I love working with kids & seeing their progression in all aspects of life.
I'm a mother of 6 children, they are in and out of the pool helping demonstrate and now teaching lessons.
Operating as usual
I have had a number of children come to the pool that have never had their face wet before. Of course this is something that we can overcome, but let’s get off to a good start at home.
I’m not a singer, but my children don’t know that. Singing allows them to learn so much. So, ignore my singing abilities and focus on the teaching in this video. I start off with washing hands, maybe elbows, back, ears and shoulders. I often give them the cup to help wash my hands, feet, etc. In the comments I’m going to post me washing her hair. You will notice that she holds her breath and even blows out. This is a great way to help get their face wet without making a big deal out of it. Make it a fun game.
Another trick before we get into the pool.
It may not be their birthday, but bust out the candles!!! If they know how to “blow” out the candles, they will be able to transition into “blowing” bubbles with ease. Be careful with the flame and HAVE FUN!
Good evening!!! As we start getting closer to lessons starting in the spring, I’d like to post a few things that may help kick start your little ones learning.
This is Dylan, my two year old. I have him laying down on his back with his ears under the water. Note…. You may need to start with your hand under their head to help them feel comfortable. Once they feel your hand and then the bottom of the tub, they tend to melt in the water. I sing twinkle twinkle to him, and pause every time his ears come out of the water. It’s a fun game we play.
Make this fun! When you come to the pool, whenever we work on back floats, we sing twinkle twinkle. This helps them associate the familiar feelings and sounds from the tub.
Here are this years sign ups. Please feel free to reach out with questions. I look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks.

2022 lessons will start April 19th. I will start sign ups the end of March.
This is how noodle floating goes sometimes.
This summer flew by, and your kids did great in the pool. I can’t thank you enough for sharing them with me.
Quick reminder that the fall schedule starts this week for those that are still swimming. I am sorry there wasn’t enough room for everyone, I just couldn’t squeeze it in with my kids school schedule. I should be starting spring lessons back up the week after Easter, and hope you all choose to come back. PM if you have any questions. Thank you again.
Swimming is just so fun!!!! Send me your favorite pictures of lessons to share with others.
Just wanted to let everyone know there is a lot of construction on Lomas. I would plan on adding a few minutes to your travel time. See you soon!
Swim starts this week!!!! I can’t wait to see everyone. Make sure to check your email for registration forms and instructions. If you didn’t get one, please let me know.
Attention all 2021 swimmers! I just sent out an email going over all the guidelines for swim, the registration/liability form and the COVID release form. If you are registered for swim starting in April and did not get this email, please PM me so I can update your email address and get you that information before lessons start.
For all those that PM me today about getting into lessons in April, I am working on piecing things together. I try my best to only work on swim stuff while my kids are sleeping/napping so I often times don’t get to things until late in the evenings. I will have answers for you all over the next couple of days. Thank you for being patient with me.
Sign ups will be posted at 8am tomorrow morning.
Hello everyone!!!! I’m starting private lessons the first week of April. I will have sign ups in March. So excited to get back in the pool with all my favorite little swimmers.
Babies first time swimming, almost 3 months old. It’s the last time any of our kids will have their first dunk.
Here’s to a Happy 2021 from our family to yours. Spring can’t come quick enough, I’m ready to see you all. Tell the kids Miss Nicole misses them so much!
We have a name. Reagan Kay Smith!
She’s here!!!! Baby girl came into the world yesterday, 10/20/20, at 7:42 pm, weighing in at 6 lbs 7 oz, 20 inches long. I’ll keep you posted on her name once we have one.
Don’t forget to practice twinkle twinkle in the bath. Teach them young that water in their ears is okay.
I just want to say THANK YOU to all those families that swam with me this summer. This summer went fast, but they all learned so much!
My parents are putting a new roof on their house, so please be sure everyone wears shoes in and out of the pool enclosure.
New August schedule starts this week!!! I have one more spot available if anyone would like it for the next 4 weeks, on Thursdays from 11:40-12.
Swim lessons can save lives. This story right here is exactly why I never recommend floaties. I know from experience, life is harder keeping a constant eye on little ones, especially when they love the water. But......it won’t be like this for long. Enjoy this time and choose the harder right. Noddle swimming is a great option!!!!
I have been waiting to hear what schools are doing before making any decisions for continuing swim lessons. As of now, it sounds like a majority of the schools are going virtual until after Labor Day. I have decided to continue lessons through Labor Day weekend for those that would like to continue. I will not be taking any new students, just working with those that have been here for the summer. I would be happy to help move people around if your current time isn't going to work after August 8th, or if you would like to add more lessons as people discontinue lessons. Before we get to changing schedules, please just let me know if you are interested in continuing lessons through September. You can text me at 506-6869, or respond to this email, letting me know what you would like to do.
Thank you, Nicole
HEALTH ALERT: Please keep in mind that I am trying my hardest to keep everyone, including myself, healthy during this trying time. As kids go back to school, sickness always follows. It just comes with the territory. If you or your child are returning to school ,please be mindful of others and make your decisions accordingly. I will be homeschooling my own children, so they will not be exposed to other children or illnesses.
I have two openings this week for those that want extra lessons. Let me know if you want them.

I could share countless stories of the confidence my children have in the water...
Aubrey, our oldest, jumps off a boat 7 miles out in choppy ocean water to dive down 20 feet below the surface while doing SNUBA (Surface Nexus Underwater Breathing Apparatus) while teenagers and adults around her are frozen with fear...
Kourtney, at 7 years old, free dives to 20 feet in the middle of the ocean on a breath hold of almost 45 seconds.
Logan, my oldest boy, does a front flip off a 15 foot cliff at the Blue Hole into 61 degree water. And wins the polar bear competition with his sisters staying in 65 degree water for almost 20 minutes.
