Fiber Is Good for You. Now Scientists May Know Why.

“It points to the boring thing that we all know but no one does,” Dr. Bäckhed said. “If you eat more green veggies and less fries and sweets, you’ll probably be better off in the long run.”

The Growing Toll of Our Ever-Expanding Waistlines

‘Fat but Fit’? The Controversy Continues

These type of articles push my buttons. I know there are folks out there that will twist this and say "it's ok to be fat, because I am fit." Yep, you may have a six pack under that layer of fat, I won't argue. I love that we are scientifically studying different aspects of health and their relationships to deepen our understanding. I'm disappointed when the media generalizes the findings (big corporate too) and spins it. Eat more of this for that, don't eat this, take this for that, don't do this. It makes total sense why we are so confused and unfortunately fat. Live an active life, eat well 90% of the time, watch your portions, watch your screen time, have an outlet for stress and change things that are not working. I believe in moderation, it is not glitzy or glam, but it works.

nytimes.com Even when overweight people are healthy, they are still more likely to develop heart disease than their peers who aren’t overweight, a new study reports.
