This week in the laser cave we have been talking about how to enjoyably navigate the upcoming holiday effortlessly and without guilt.
You really do not have to choose between deprivation and all-out decadence - there is another way!
✨know your "why"✨
Remind yourself WHY you want to eat healthy. Why are you making changes in your life? Why are you spending time, effort and money? Is it being able to have more energy to play with your kids? Travel? Preventing chronic illness? Feeling like you can accomplish what you set out to do? Do you want to feel confident and in control? Your reasons are yours. Go deep and own them. They are your compass. Once you get dialed in to your "why", everything else will follow.
✨eat breakfast or a snack before the main event✨
Skipping a meal to save up for later will backfire. Eating a little something will help regulate energy and hunger levels. We all know everything looks amazing if we're super hungry and it will be harder to make smart choices. If you're cooking you'll be less likely to graze and sample as you go along, which really adds up! Have a protein rich little something like Greek yogurt with some nuts sprinkled in. Oh - if you are cooking, sip on some peppermint tea - you'll be less likely to eat as you go.
This is not the day to try and be 100% - it IS the day to enjoy some splurges and treats. Deprivation not allowed. Just be incredibly thoughtful and pick only the treats that you love and are really looking forward to having. You can also try a little of everything - key word - LITTLE. Sample and then go back for a little more if it knocks you off your seat.
Example: my Grand-ma made out of this world stuffing with oysters, sausage and tons of butter. I looked forward to that more than anything else. I sure as heck let myself enjoy it. Now that she's not cooking anymore, I miss it and am sure glad I enjoyed that yumminess while I could.
And finally.... remember - you are NOT going to do damage in one day of eating rich foods. You might feel a little wonky but there's an easy remedy for that

an attitude of no regret or guilt because you know you did well AND enjoyed yourself.
