Our Spring 2017 season kicks off in late February with practices, and matches begin in March running through May. We also offer other Learn to play rugby events in the fall. Rugby fans, we regret to inform you that until further notice, all youth rugby is canceled, including the Zia 7s and NM Rugby Day
Dear NMYR Community,
As concerns grow around the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in New Mexico and the United States, it is important that we take responsibility to keep our community safe and healthy. NMYR understands the severity of COVID-19 and potential risks involved. In the interest of the safety, health, and well-being of all our members, their families, and communities, NMYR has decided to cancel all rugby events for the remainder of the month of March. We will reassess this decision at the end of the month. We encourage teams to not even practice, but realize that this decision is ultimately up to each team.
In the meantime, if you are experiencing respiratory illness or fever, or having other symptoms of either the COVID-19, winter flu, or cold we urge you stay home and not compete in matches or team activities, including practices. Participation is not mandatory, please do what feels best for you and your family.
Please follow these precautionary suggestions for athletes and administrators provided by USAR:
• Avoid close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections;
• Wash your hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds at a time;
• Avoid touching your face as much as possible;
• People with symptoms of acute respiratory infection should practice cough etiquette (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and wash their hands).
• Avoid handshakes when greeting players and opponents;
• Use individual water bottles; do not share them;
• Towels, uniforms and training bibs should not be shared, if possible. Frequent laundry of these items is suggested;
• Training equipment should be cleaned following session.
Wash your hands, be honest about how you feel, and take care.
Yours in rugby,

Today, three of the wreaths that was laid at the Santa Fe National Cemetery (as part of the Wreaths for America campaign) were sponsored by the La Cueva High School Rugby Team. These wreaths were laid in remembrance of fallen soldiers who paid the highest price for their country. I will lie if I say that it wasn’t an emotional experience for me, but it was an honor to (1) represent the rugby team in this event and (2) pay respects to those fought for the country’s honor and freedom.
[11/30/19] Note! A group of adults are still going to come run touch today at 10 if anyone wants to join in!
