Logan turns 36 today!
Six years ago, at the fresh age of 30, Logan pitched an idea: the first Kung Fu Opera. Thus started our collaboration at the Dojo. It’s been a full six years with incredible projects, new additions, and even navigating a pandemic. I am extremely grateful that I get to work, create and exist with this magical human.
I know I am not alone in this feeling. As The Dojo moves into another new chapter with Celestial Mountain Farm, many who started doing martial arts with Logan when they were 8 and 10 years old are now young adults and/or getting close to graduation: the relationship moving from teacher to working alongside.
So in honor of this and Logan: we will be taking donations for the Celestial Mountain Farm supportive employment project this week. All proceeds will go to getting electric set up and a loft built for the wood shop and lumber for the green house shelves.
You can donate at www.themountaindojo.com
Additionally, please send messages or give him shout out when you see him.
Thank you all for your continued support of the Mountain Dojo, for Logan and our whole family. We are so honored that we been connected to so many families and some for over 10 years.

Hello friends and families of The Dojo,
It’s 2021! 2020 has definitely been a roller coaster, but there are so many things we are grateful for.
We are so grateful for you all. We would not have made it through 2020 without all your support, patience and time. We definitely had to be flexible this year. Thank you for sticking by our side through Covid restrictions, weather changes and hospitalizations. We did end it all together and as we head into 2021 we are excited to see what this year will bring.
We will be starting classes back up on January 18th. At this moment all classes will be offered over Zoom. We hope to start some small, outdoor in-person classes in March. Check out our schedule. (These classes will run January 18th to May 21st)

This baby is teaching us so much. Hoping to get off the vent by the end of the week. We are definitely on the slow pace of recovery. So grateful that I am able to be at the hospital all the time and it is so hard being away from my other beings at home. Every other day: we get hugs, hold hands, and shout, “I love you, I love you, I love you” in the car as they bring me Zendo beans, treats and hot food. Hope to be home before 2021. Thank you all for the love, support, food and messages. Thanks for helping our hearts hurt a little less as we go on this journey.
Logan is keeping up the with a couple classes a day over zoom for the next three weeks.
Morning Movement: MTWTh 7:00am to 7:40am
Martial Arts: MW 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Aerobics/Stretching: TTh 5:30pm to 6:30pm
The Dojo will be closed from December 21st through January.
We are hoping this gives us enough time for Giles to come home, get some rest and prepare for our Winter/Spring classes. 2020 has definitely been a rollercoaster year. Thank you for continuing to be on the ride with us.
3 years ago: Logan and I decided to make The Mountain Dojo into a nonprofit because most creative and recreational programs were getting cut from state funding and no longer able to exist. We wanted to have the freedom to continue without being reliant on state funding yet still be able to provide classes that everyone could afford. Plus giving us the opportunity to be home with our kids.
In comes 2020 and we again find ourselves fighting to keep these programs going. What we have found is that we are unique and small which in many ways is wonderful, but hard to find outside funding for.
We believe in the power of art. We believe that the world needs Neurodiversity. We believe a diverse and inclusive community makes a better society. Help us continue to provide a safe and creative space, where individuals can find their voice.
If you would like to support The Mountain Dojo as part of or any day of the year you can donate on our website or Venmo

Today we planned to go on a family morning hike. Quickly, the original idea dissipated. We left the house 2 hours later than planned, the trails we wanted to hike were very crowded so we went in search of a more secluded trail. On the search for the perfect hike: each baby fell asleep so we kept on driving. Finally we found our way to a hike which ended quickly leaving us less satisfied and with several mosquito bites. Our adventure was a 20 minute hike and a 7 hour drive. Each person felt differently on our little adventure. At times it was peaceful, beautiful and frustrating. Similar is this unknowing journey of the dojo at the moment. It is hard to make plans and we are always reimagining and searching for answers. This at times gives us insight, but also leaves us with more questions and sometimes existing in limbo. However, through it all we have remained connected and have been supported by our families. We continue to find ways to have classes whether on Zoom or in small groups on our new outdoor classroom deck. (donated and designed by Bert Gillespie)
We will continue to adjust and make changes as needed and we will get through this strange journey together.
We are planning to continue to offer our classes over Zoom with an option of a small group in person (unless specified). Due to precautions for Covid, we are offering most classes over zoom and have a small group (2 to 4 people ) in person. All in person classes are outside on either our deck or porch. Everyone is wearing masks and socially distancing. We continue to follow the state guidelines both for the safety of our family and the community. Please email to sign up. [email protected]

Private lessons (Zoom or in person)
If you are interested in digging deeper in the subjects of Martial Arts, Fitness, Dance, Music, Writing and Art we are now offering private lessons both on Zoom or in person. Email us and we will figure out a time and day that works. (1 hr lesson: $50 to $100 sliding scale)
Thank you all for your continued support. This is not an easy time and we will continue to update you on what is happening here at the Dojo. Please do not hesitate to email us with questions, concerns, ideas and suggestions. We so appreciate hearing from you all and love receiving your input. Our goal is to remain connected to each other in a safe and meaningful way. Your support is helping us remain open and able to provide these classes and to be a safe and creative space for all. We look forward to when we can do that together again, inside the dojo, without worrying about our proximity to each other; but for now we love seeing your faces on screen and behind masks...six feet away.
With love from the Dojo,
Logan, Lily, Stef, Moon and Giles June.

Logan and I started The Mountain Dojo to provide a safe space for people to move and create together. To find their voice through creative expression. To be able to be their true selves. As we continue to hold that space, to educate ourselves more and to do our best to be advocates, we must listen, we must stand up.
